It must be said here that working with a lathe can be hazardous. Not only are you working with very sharp tools and a lathe but the dust can be quite dangerous as well.

Follow all the safety instruction for the equipment, and wear a dust mask / respirator and eye protection. Loose clothing, long hair and jewellery can all be a hazard so dress appropriately and be safe.
