Have you ever noticed that brats, who treat their loving mild-mannered parents with disrespect, will turn around and show great respect to a dirty, slovenly dressed, foul mouthed school bully? 

Why is it that a person, who is smart enough not to spit into the wind, will spit into the wind of the Spirit of God? 

Could this disrespect for their Creator God be because they view the Almighty as a mild mannered, cuddly teddy-lamb? 

But the true God of history and the Word of God is a far cry from being a cuddly teddy lamb. 

“Behold, the Lord God shall come with a strong hand, and His arm shall rule for Him…  All nations before Him are as nothing, and they are counted by Him less than nothing and worthless,”  ISA 40:10a, 17 

The nations will try to hide from this so-called loving teddy-bear and seek to bury themselves under the mountains.  “Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him (God) who sits on the throne (of God), and from the wrath of the Lamb!”  REV 6:16  No cuddly teddy-lamb here. 

Like a convict with a tattoo of his girlfriend, God has tattooed the names of His people on His palm.  “See, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands…” ISA 49:16 

God is protective of His own.  “Kings shall be your foster fathers and their queens your nursing mothers (picture that!), they shall bow down to you with their faces to the earth, and lick up the dust off your feet.  Then you will know that I am the Lord, for they shall not be ashamed who wait for Me.”  ISA 49:23 

Imagine that, the punks of the world licking dust—licking the dust off of our feet! 

God says, “Repay her according to her work; according to all she has done, do to her… “JER 50:29b  Imagine that!  All the suffering, torture, insults and bullying that God’s people have suffered will one day be repaid. 

We’d do better if we pictured God as a tattooed shaved-headed hulk who meant business.  There are just certain things you don’t do.  You don’t lip off to a gang of Hell’s Angels (or even one of the lesser known biker gangs such as Gypsy Jockers or Mongols).  Yet, God Almighty is the most disrespected person I know.  Something is blinding people to the obvious. 

All men struggle and wander through the jungles of life, but if one wants to really congest your mind with raw terror and go crazy, rebel against your Creator.  Call it spitting into the wind of God’s Spirit in a big way. 

…According to My anger and according to my fury; and they shall know my vengeance.”  EZ 25:14 

“So you shall be driven mad because of the sight which your eyes see.”  DEUT 28:34  “Because you did not serve the Lord your God with joy and gladness of heart for the abundance of everything, therefore you shall serve your enemies, whom the Lord will send against you…” DEUT 28:48 

If you disrespect God, He’ll remove His protection and let you be shaken down by His “rival gang.” 

We’d do better to fear and respect Almighty God.  “Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.”  PHIL 2:12 

Who do people think God is?  First, He’s your maker (ISA 51:13).  “Behold, all souls are Mine…the soul who sins shall die.”  EZ 18:4  Your ass and the rest of your anatomy including your entire soul is God’s.  His Words are straight to the point and frank like a toughened lifer in prison. 

1PTR 2:17 tells it straight, “Fear God.” “…whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God…” (1JN 3:10b) “…He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God.  (3JN 1:11) For God is not mocked, whatsoever a man soweth (does), that shall he also reap.  Or, in the street we say, “What goes around, comes around.”
