My Opinion Matters

August 6, 2002

It amazes me—I'm a convicted felon, yet I believe my opinion matters.  I saw on the News where kids are abducted, statewide bulletins and alerts go out so citizens can keep an eye out and hopefully provide information to aid in capturing those responsible.

It's about damn time!  But, it would be better if the nation took it one step further:  If a child or person is abducted, and can be determined the length of time from when it took place, then a half-hour would be added to the get-away time factor search radius.  Then, communities around that area would be called to drop whatever they're doing (work, sleep, day-to-day whatever), and converge on the radius perimeter to set up civilian check-points, stopping all out-going cars, checking people, and house-to-house and area searches until the whole inner radius is checked.  Kids are everyone's responsibility.

A pocket pager-type alert system, connected to the Global Positioning Satellite to coordinate alarms, punch in estimated time of abduction, specifics about abductee, which allows radius calculations to be fed back out as a call of the surrounding radius area as a call to action of all people:  Could you imagine, if it was mandatory that the government provide one to every citizen and all always answered the call every time—then an abductor could never get away, and in a century maybe that behavior could be totally bred out of society.

If the government gives citizens a bunch of crap of why it can't happen, then they're the enemy of your kids and the people—remove them for abusing their power for against the will of the people.

It also amazes me that half of the world's rainforests are gone and people think nothing of it.  Above, people obviously care about their children, trying innovative concepts to protect them, but what about your kids and grandkid's future?  Can this planet's people be sustained with less than half of the rainforest left—does the world really want to find out if it's chewed down to one-third and that proves not enough?  Will you let the government euthanasia people so their rich cronies can live to the last bitter moment when they ruined the planet with their greed?

Why do people think that other people rally/protest at World Trade Organization meetings?  (Look at the corporate scandals going on, the protesters are right.)  Business is raping the world and the good people in it.  They care nothing for the people in it, unless you consider putting people and children to work in sweatshops caring?  Why do you think people give of themselves by chaining themselves to trees or live in them, in protest—people thinking they're nuts?

Do you think governments, as they are today, care about people?  Look at ours, ingrained in the corporate scandal, in pursuit of the Almighty Dollar that will get them elected, instead of solving good people's problems:  For instance, the floods, droughts, and fires:  Why aren't pumps in places where floods recur, a national pipeline built filtering water into high fire areas, for a forest fire suppression system, or for treatment for drought stricken areas?  This could put everyone to work, if not, people who refuse, would not get public assistance.

The time for change is now.  The time for the world to act as one Planet is now.  If not, all is lost, children's futures are lost.

The Middle East problem is perplexing.  If the World won't step between the two and stop the fighting, then I'm at a loss.  The only thing I can think of is a public video for each separate nation.  A Palestinian Father and son, a Jewish Father and son for respective nations:  A son finds a Palestinian/Israeli baby on their door step;

 "Papa? A baby was left on our doorstep."
 "Bahhh.  Put it back it's a Palestinian/Israeli baby."
 "Papa!  It's a baby.  Should I go get a gun so you should kill?"
 "Watch yourself.  I'm not a baby killer."
 "You'll surely kill it if you just leave it there, what's the difference?"
 "They kill out people!  I will not raise one to kill more."
 "Then Papa, raise one, and, in a good way, teach him about his people—the good things we see in them as a whole, and the reasons for our problems we have against each other, and maybe we, in that way, will find a solution to end the eons of bloodshed between our people?"
 "Do you really think if a Palestinian/Israeli found a baby on their doorstep that they would raise the baby and teach it as you say?"
 "Papa.  Palestinian's/Israeli's have to love their baby's as we do, they wouldn't have grown into a nation.  Maybe someday we can get to the reasons of why we have slighted/bombed them, causing further attacks, in a way we can each side can understand their reasoning.  Then we can solve the conflict between our people's?"
