Wow it's been ages since I've done any modeling, I miss it. Been busy working and trying to learn Flash 8 professional and actionscript 2. I have a good basic understanding of the language, it's just the actual programming that's going to take me awhile to pick up. I may re-create this site in flash once I get used to working with it.
I've already created a simple flash site for my portfolio for the one or two people who see this site and might want to take a look lol. You can see it here. http://members.cox.net/woodmiester/

Some interesting news today to say the least.
The final judging of the 2D and 3D contest of "The journey begins" challenge over at CG Talk has finally come to a close. You can see the results here. I'd first like to say that even as I entered the competition, I knew beforehand that I had no chances of winning let alone recieving an honorable mention. I did enter though for the sheer fun of it and for the competition and comradery which I did enjoy. Losing ( which I knew would happen ), was not my problem.
When it came to the judging though, I have to say that I'm not only confused, but sadly disappointed. There was a lot of absolutely great work that was created ( 3D ) that didn't even recieve an honorable mention. If the reason for that is the fact that maybe one of them didn't follow the guidelines of the contest closely enough therefore they were disquailified, then I would have say then that the judging is hypocritical at best because the winner of the 3D contest didn't follow the guidelines either.
One of the guidelines was that the main charater or characters of your scene had to be "Up close" while being able to see far off into the background. If you look at the winning entry ( as great as it is ), you really have to squint to see the main character of the scene while others who created great scenes and did follow the rules more closely didn't win or even make honorable mention.
I'm not griping because I didn't win, but you have to consider the fact that a lot of people put a lot of hard work into their scenes which took a few months to complete and taking them ( and me ) several hours and sacrificed weekends to complete. You would expect then that after so much hard work was put into this contest that the final judging would be consistant and professional. I just feel that when you look at all the great and beautiful work that was done for this contest and compare them, the results seem upside down.
Nevertheless, I'm offering my own little tribute to the ones that ( if didn't win ) should have at leat made honorable mention. Just my 2 cents.

Not a whole lot going on except that I'm still pluging away slowly on my custom Harley. I have a new render in the work in progress section showing most of the elements completed. Still a ways to go, but at least it's good to see it come together. Go have a look while bandwidth lasts.
