I've picked up where I left off on this project "Saturday night
drag'n". It's now going to be named "DragonSlayer" ( not too much
difference ). The Harley engine was originally created in Blender, but
since I've picked up Lightwave I thought I would start over again using
it.
Primarily I've been going back and cleaning up the mesh the best I can
and trying to reduce the number of polys along the way. I don't know
why I made it so dense in the first place. I'm also trying to make it
as "Quadly" as I can. Currently I'm creating the frame as you can see
and then going back and tweaking the engine. I've already noticed a
little something I have to fix ( bottom part of render ) where the belt
retainer ( tail ) meets the gear hub. I'll have to pull that
out
a tad.
When the bike part is done I'd like to put some kind of half-dead,
grusome rider of some type on it to increase the "cool" factor.
Something I can take into ZBrush and detail the snot out of hehe.
This will take me awhile as usuall and hopefully even longer if I
happen to win the CG Talk contest "The journey begins" ( NOT! ) cause
I'd have to write a tutorial on how I created the scene........That is
if I can remember.
Just a small update shown in the second image. I made the rear tire so
stinkin fat that the drive chain couldn't make it around the tire
without having the drive gear stick out way too much. What I had to do
was get rid of the stock transmission and create a right-side-drive
transmission and run the belt around to the rear tire that way. It was
a chore to scour the internet for halfway decent images of
right-side-drive transmissions to model from. It's not perfect, but
cose enough.
Slowly I'm starting to get it together. Once I have the basic bike
built I'm going to go back through and see what kind of modifications I
can do with it. I still have a bunch of little detail thingys to add
like brake handles, lights, etc. At least the majority of the major
stuff is done which helps me see the bike as a whole to work from.
