september highlights: Off to AZ...

Wednesday, September 11. AZ trip.
Not much training down here yet, may go for a run this evening. Entry in e-musing though.

Thursday, September 5. Back in the saddle.
Finally got off my butt and did some pentathloning. Susan and I had a pretty tough riding lesson tonight. Susan because she was riding a new horse "Wayco" a former polo pony. Wayco has a bit of an ejection seat over jumps. The little pop finally worked on Susan and she had her first fall tonight - a very graceful one - but still her first fall which is always quite a milestone for a new rider. She picked right back up though and continued on. Merlin and I just weren't in the same groove. I was leaning too far forward and he was being a bit of a pill. He normally rushes the fences and is really strong but tonight he as really holding off and I was still trying to ride him the old way. The first round on the course was quite entertaining, the second I did much better with just a few issues here and there. Lots of sharp turns on the course though so it was a good challenge.
