Bram Stokerīs Dracula

USA 1992 Directed by Francis Ford Coppola.

Starring: Gary Oldman, Winona Ryder, Anthony Hopkins, Keanu Reeves.

Thereīs been made many films about Dracula over the years, but not many has been faithful to Bram Stokerīs novel. Neither Francis Ford Coppolaīs version is identical the original, but very little tells them apart. The major difference with Coppolaīs screen version is that Dracula has a romance with Mina (Winona Ryder). Dracula has also become modernized, and walks in the streets of London with dark glasses in broad daylight. These changes are certainly nothing negatively, far from it. With his visual and erotic packed film led Coppola Dracula into the nineties. "Bram Stokerīs Dracula" was also very successful at the Academy award, there it won three Oscar.

Considering that it is a horror film managed Coppola collect an unusual crowd of star actors. The brightest shining star is Gary Oldman, who plays Dracula. He molds young count Dracula as well as the old brilliantly. Dracula can also transform himself to different shapes as fog, a bat, a wolf and many mice, and is therefore very hard to beat.

When I look at "Bram Stokerīs Dracula", it strikes me that Iīm not one single time get scared. This is a constantly frequent phenomenon, when big respectable film directors will embark on making horror films (with the exception of Stanley Kubrickīs "The Shining"). Sometimes it feels as if Coppola solely made a drama, and that lower the overall impression a bit.
