Background | Surin is one of the provinces in Southern E-sarn , which is the location of the ethnic minority , Suai. This tribe is well known in catching wild elephants and training them to work. Most of the Suai residents live in AmpherThatum( Thatum district) . Their way of life is distinctive from the mainstream E-sarn people. In 1960, an event originated in this district and became widely well known till it became the symbol of the province. Since then, the cabinet has sanctioned this event to be one of the national annual fairs. |
