I just got my friend, Glen, into bow hunting this year. I put him on a spot in Tallahala Wildlife Management Area and he killed his first deer with a bow and it was a seven point(I attached his picture with this e-mail). He got pretty excited. I was about 200 yards from him when he shot. We had those little Motorolla radio's and he called and told me he shot a deer and that it was a buck. He didn't really know how big the buck was, but he knew that it was at least a four point. He was so excited that he couldn't even draw his bow back on the first pull. He thought that something was wrong with his bow. He had one last opportunity to draw on the buck, so he gave it all he had and finally pulled the bow to full draw and released the arrow. He said the buck went down blating and got up, ran into a few tree's, fell down a couple of more times and ran into a pine thicket. When I got to his stand, he told me that he thought he had made a pretty good shot. We trailed the deer for a while and found the buck about 400 yards away. Come to find out that his shot wasn't as good as he thought, but hey we found the buck and that's what counts. In the picture you can see where he shot the deer. He shot the buck in the back leg. Yep the back leg. Hard to believe, but the 100grain muzzy that he was using done the job. I know this was a long story, but I just had to tell story again. Submitted by: Donny |
