I had taken some photos of a few deer traveling across a food plot I put in last month.  I noticed that in the evening the deer were moving in one direction, and in the morning they were moving in the opposite direction.   On a hunch, I told my wife to sit in a stand that was about 200 yards away from the plot.   This stand covered a trail coming out of a pine thicket that eventually made it's way up and over a ridge, and across a road, down another ridge, and across the food plot.  (I've hunted this area for years and have never been able to figure out which way the deer were moving and when.  With the camera I was able to figure it out!)

She headed to the stand and settled in.   About 4:45 a 6 point buck came out of the pines and eased through the saping thicket she was watching until it stopped right on the edge of another food plot I had put in that area. (That plot was only 10 yards off the main trail.)  Taking a good shot, she hit the buck right behind the front shoulder.  It ran in a wide arch, coming right under her stand and running back into the thicket he came from.   Fearing she was going to lose tracking light, she got down and headed into the thicket.   Losing the blood trail, she soon decided to follow the deer trail itself and started to find blood again.  Eventually she came upon the deer.  A nice 6 point!

So, she killed her 3rd deer, her largest deer, was the third time she had killed a deer with only one shot, and accomplished her first tracking job by herself.
As you can guess, I'm extremely proud!!
