The Portfolio of Chris Smallfield

Welcome to my portfolio. My name is Chris Smallfield and I am currently a sophmore at Savannah College of Art and Design. I am a computer art major and a film minor. This is a small representation of various work I have done. To view the pictures simple click on them and in a new window a larger version will open. This is the latest update (4-21-02). The following images I made using mostly illustrator and some photoshop. The subject is a small little ad campaign for my girlfriend, Bob Bland's future fashion label, I was pretty happy with the result. Click the small images to see the larger versions.

This image is kind of a pop art style collage I made in photoshop. The girl in the picture is Bob Bland.

Ths is an Art Nuevo style ad. With all of the ads I was going for 20th century art influences and this is probably my favorite style.

This image is in reference to communist propaganda posters used in Russia. I was very happy with how this image came out. I plan to enter it into the Adobe Partners by Design competition. This image was almost entirely made in Illustrator.

This section contains pictures for a short movie that I am in planning process of. The movie will be called, Jack goes to Hell. It will be a combination of CG, traditional cel animation and rotoscoping. The goal date for it to be done is Sept. 2002, check back for updates.

This picture, same as the intro, is a preliminary sketch that I quickly colored in photoshop. It is the entrance to Hell.

This fine fellow is sketch of the devil himself, in the end he may or may not look anything like this.

Here is the model I am still working on for the entrance to hell.

This quicktime movie demonstrates the rotoscoping technique I might use. The file is only 150k.

This section contains images that I made for my recent computer art class. IN the beginning of the class we had to choose a subject that all of our projects would be based on. I chose Alice in Wonderland. I added my own little twists.

This picture was the first version of a poster I made for my non-existent version of Alice in Wonderland. I like it but I think it is a bit too stark.

This image is the 2nd version of the above image. It feels a bit more finished. It really looks like a weird surrealist horror movie from the 70's. Kind of freaky

This is the image that is reflected in the eye. I put way too much work into it for it to be ignored. It is the Queen of Hearts and the White Rabbit

This is a 3D model of the white rabbit I made in Maya 4.0. I was particularly happy with the bump and texture map.

Here is what the finished colot version turned out like. This was drawn in illustrator and then the background was put in with photoshop.

Here is my favorite piece, the big movie poster. The Cheshire cat is overtaking Alice. This was a huge Illustrator file and took me quite a while

The pictures contained in this section are various pictures from my sketchbook and from drawings for classes. My goal for this section is to show my versatility in style and medium.

This image was from one of my drawing classes at SCAD, it is a still life of some paper bags and is done with charcoal.

This is a little sketch of some 3 legged droid robot. It's not amazing but shows a variety of styles that I can employ.

These are some hand exercise drawing I did for another SCAD drawing class. I used my own hand as the model.

This is an unfinished nude from my life drawing class. I was really happy with the way some of the shadows turned out.

Here is another funky little sketch of a cartoony lizard cyborg creature. I love desgining characters and here is just one example.

This is a project I made for my 3D Design class. It is Guache and cardboard with each layer of the picture seperated by an inch or two of foam. The actual height of this peice is about 4 feet tall.
