1967 Camaro Dirt Tracker

CAMARO As with the Torino Stock car, the Camaro dirt tracker is a T-jet body on an AFX chassis. This body, however, is too narrow to fit on the AFX mounts by simply thinning the door panels from the inside. To accommodate the mounts, slots were cut in the thinned panels, and Plastruct® channel pieces glued over them on the outside, to simulate the channel iron "rub-rails" many small tracks allowed in their rules.

CAMARO The protective screen for the windshield area and the grill are made from surgical gauze, "painted" black with a felt tipped marker. Notice that the short wheelbase body is now stretched to a long wheelbase car by extending the wheelwell opennings forward, giving it more of a modified appearance.

CAMARO Obviously not a "Show Car", this Camaro was modeled to represent a participant in the weekly Saturday night dirt track wars, including a small twist to the rear sheet metal from being rear-ended, and ample evidence that the car has been on it's roof during one of the battles.
