This car was based on the AFX Chevy Nomad wagon. The roof and tailgate was removed, leaving only the windshield frame and the tailgate sill. The new trunk lid was made from .020" Plastruct® styrene, and then heated and carefully bent to the proper configuration. |

The roll cage is made of light weight brass wire, soldered, and epoxied into place. Like many of it's full-sized dirt track counterparts of that era, the "glass" windshield was replaced with heavy screen. |

The paint scheme is a combination of white primer, a hand painted yellow flame job, which was carefully wet sanded before the top coats were added, and several coats of Candy Apple Red. The flames are very faint and subtle, due to the similarity in tones between the yellow used for them and the white base coat. The lettering was done with "LetterSet"® transfer letters, and topped with gloss clear coat. |

A look at the underside of the body shows that the material was thinned extensively, using a very small Dremel® steel bit, and a lot of patience. The AFX mounts were trimmed to allow the body to sit lower, and cut slightly wider so the body would "float" on the mounts. Plastruct® styrene angle was glued on the outer edges of each of the mounts to keep the body from twisting on the chassis. |
