There is nothing particularly unusual about a Torino Stock car, but this one is a little different, since it uses the original Thunderjet plastic body on an AFX chassis, using the original AFX mounts, and without widening the body. Because the Torino body is much narrower, and to keep the original body demensions, the thick door panels were thinned extensively. Styrene angle stock was glued in place to make AFX style mounts. |

It was the practice of many "low budget" teams to finish only one side of the car, the side toward the grandstands, or to repair and repaint only the one side as the season went on. The 06 Torino was modeled in that fashion. Notice the typical short track wind screen, replacing the full stock windshield. In keeping with the low budget theme, the car was also hand lettered, rather than using decals. |
