“Blind Date” was a skillfully paced one-act comedy with precise and carefully crafted dialogue that examines human relationships and how oppressive sexual roles can be passed down from generation to generation. It was first presented at the Ensemble Studio Theatre in New York City in May of 1986. The setting is the living room of a home in Harrison, Texas in 1929. Robert, the man of the house, returns home to find no dinner ready because his wife, Dolores, has set up their rebellious, visiting niece, Sarah Nancy, on a blind date with Felix, one of the town’s eligible young men. But, from the outset, Sarah Nancy, makes it clear that she wants nothing to do with this blind date. |
