Thurlow, Judge Arthur Louis, (1913- ), Q.C., B.A., LL.B., Lawyer, Politician and
Judge. Born in Lunenburg, son of Charles (commercial traveller) and Emily (Kinley)
Thurlow, he was educated at Lunenberg Academy and at Dalhousie (B.A., 1933, LL.B., 1935).
He was married in 1941 to Mabel
Maxwell and has one son: James, and from 1943 to 1946 served in the Canadian Army. In
1957, Thurlow was appointed a Judge of the Exchequer Court of Canada, and in 1959 a Judge
of the Court Martial Court of Canada. Previous to being appointed to the Bench, he
represented Lunenburg County in the Nova scotia Legislature. (See: The Canadian
