Sometime between that kiss that forever makes Martin lick his lips when he thinks of it and tonight, they started down the road to sex. Martin didn't see any signs, any bright yellow detour warnings, but he figures they had to start sometime, because right now, they're having sex for the third time in a week.
Danny's hands are in his hair, and he seems obsessed with licking at Martin's lips, and Martin's not complaining because all that lank he thought he wouldn't like comes in very handy; because most of Danny's lank is leg, and those legs wrapped around him make him not care about much besides getting closer and closer to Danny.
And when they kiss, Martin swears he won't ever be able to remove his lips from Danny's again.
But it's just sex.
And when they go to a movie and end up making out in the back like teenagers, it's not a big deal. It's just a prelude to the sex they have later on Martin's couch, with Martin groaning and biting back Danny's name as Danny teases him before taking him while he sucks on Martin's neck. Martin gets teased about that mark by Sam for a week, and he tries to ignore the fact that he smiles everytime she does it.
Because it's just sex.
Danny shows up at his apartment one night, cold and wet after walking in the rain for god knows how long, grabs Martin and just hugs him until neither of them can breathe properly.
Martin manages two coherent words. "...the hell?" Before he can ask more, Danny has him on the floor in front of the door and is getting them both very quickly naked.
In the shower later, as Martin rubs at Danny's arms to get the chill out of them, Danny puts a careful hand over the small cut Martin got from a half-assed kidnapper that morning and looks in Martin's eyes.
Suddenly, it's not just sex. And Martin realizes it's never been just sex. He's known it all along, but to know it when he watches the light in Danny's eyes as he comes, and to know it when Danny leans on his shoulder in the shower are completely different forms of knowing. Martin kisses him carefully.
Because it's not just sex.
