He will get on the plane and fly back to New York.
He’ll try to get a minute alone with Dana before he gives her the list, but there won’t be time, or she won’t really be listening. So he’ll hand over the list, and he won’t be able to look at her when she discovers her brother’s name on it. At the break, he’ll tell her to call her mother, and she will, he *really* won’t be able to look at her while she does that.
After the show, she will come to his office and say, “Hold me, Casey,” and she will mean, “Fuck me, Casey.” Or maybe she’ll skip the niceties and say, “Fuck me, Casey.” And he will say no, though he will want to say yes, because he’ll want to help her, and this is the only way he’ll be able to think of to do it.
He’ll say no anyway.
They won’t go out after the show. They’ll go straight home, and he’ll fuck Dan. All the strength and comfort he will have wanted to give to Dana, he’ll give to Dan instead.
He will convince himself that this will help. That the rest of them being strong will make them better able to help Dana.
He will know that this is faulty logic. He’ll do it anyway.
In the morning, Dana’s eyes will be bloodshot, and it will be obvious that she has not slept, and they will all be careful to be cheerful around her, or be careful to be careful around her, although she will be in little danger of breaking.
Kyle will come to the studio, and they will say “hi” to him but look embarrassed, or they will ignore him completely and still look embarrassed. Dana will tell Kyle to come into her office, and he’ll go. She’ll be harsh on him, and somehow it’ll be Casey’s job to remind her that he’s still her brother. He’ll do that, but ultimately the decision will have to be hers.
And they’ll all have to acknowledge that there will be nothing more they can do for her.
