Auto Correct – Fixes mistakes as you type.  You can also create new Auto Correct entries.

 

Example – In MS Word, type sincerely.  Notice the correction.  Try a colon and a parenthesis.

 

To create your own Auto Correct entry, click on the OFFICE BUTTON in the top left corner, click WORD OPTIONS, Click PROOFING, and then click AUTO CORRECT OPTIONS.

 

Auto Format As You Type – Formats text as you type it.  Type the abbreviation for first in MS Word.  It should show up as 1st.

 

AutoComplete – Guesses certain words as you type them.  For example, begin typing today’s date, month first.

 

Spelling and Grammar – Checked automatically.  Spelling – Red underline.  Grammar – Green Underline.  To check it manually, choose Tools, Spelling and Grammar, or simply push F7.

 

Insert Date and Time – Choose the Insert tab, then select Date and Time.

 

Thesaurus – Find synonyms.  Highlight the word and press SHIFT-F7 or choose the REVIEW tab then click Thesaurus.

 

Insert Symbols – Choose the INSERT tab and then choose Symbol on the far right side of the screen. You pick many different symbols by choosing the MORE SYMBOLS option and navigating through the different fonts.
