Georgia, like Tennessee, was one of the pioneer states to receive Thweatt

Georgia money, signed by my grandfather during his term of office as comptroller
General during the Civil War." Signed, Alex S. Thweatt.

The entire family of ten were all pre Civil War folk. How many sons and
grandsons were in the war and how many lost their lives? What was the cost
in dollars to this family of ten? Thirdly, how many prayers, tears and
heartbreaks did this family of ten have?
My own father was a Confederate soldier and one of a family of sixteen. My
maternal grandmother was a widow with six daughters and one son, a lad of junior
age, and had to survive in the thick of "Middle Tennessee." In
my boyhood, many of the stories I have listened to from both sides of the house.
Fourthly, one of my prized possessions, that I now own, is a $100.00 Confederate
