These families in Wyoming provide another case when the name Thweatt has been changed to Threet, with this difference, by their own choice. When asked why, they said, "Threet is so much easier to say and people continued to pronounce Thweatt as Threet, so we just changed it to Threet." However, they knew how their ancestors spelled their names and, being interested in their Thweatt family lines, secured the   services of Orville S. Johnson, genealogist, who probably furnished and secured from the excellent genealogical library of the Latter Day Saints church at Salt Lake City, the following lines: 

The line starts, "William Giles Thweatt came to this country from Wales when he was about 12 Years old with his father and an unmarried uncle."  In the first census of Virginia of 1785 it lists Giles Thweatt head of family of eight souls. The prepared genealogical line is as follows: William Giles Thweatt, m. (2nd)  Gillam or Gillium.  Issue: 1-James Thweatt, b. circa 1800 at Petersburg, Va., 2-Henry Thweatt, b. circa 1802, m. This family emigrated from Tennessee to Texas. After the father's death, the widow and children emigrated to Wyoming, homesteading land and have prospered. Issue: l-Anna L. Thweatt, b.
