Sledding and Carting Pictures
2002-2003 Season

This page will show pictures from our first season training with a cart on dirt roads and a sled on snow.  Our first race is the Cascade Quest.  We will be entered in the sporting class, 14 miles each day over 2 days.  Stay tuned for more pictures as they come.

Here is our new dog box.  It's not the best one out there but we are on a budget and it works.  It is built from 4 old apple boxes and can hold up to eight dogs.  I bought the apple boxes for $20.  The rest of the materials cost me around $350.  Now I only need to convince the wife we need more dogs...perhaps I may be sleeping in this dog box someday.

Well, I should have know better.  A mal that does not want to be in a box, ain't gonna be in a box.  Our foster dog Blue ate my new dog box door.  I'll be ordering real dog box doors soon.  Made out of steel not wood and wire mesh.  Malamutes use wire mesh and chain link as dental floss.

Our newest pack member Lucky.  He came to us through WAMAL.  He appears to be more Siberian Husky than Alaskan Malamute, but he is an awesome sleddog.  He stays focused and loves to pull.

Steele and Pam at a weight Pull in Cashmere, WA in October 2002.  Click here to see how he did on both days.

Here are Cinnamon and Caillou in lead and Steel and Lucky in wheel after a training run at Sears Creek.

Soon I'll have pictures with me on the cart.  Until then you'll just have to take my word that I really run with them.

Training run at Sears Creek.  We run alot with Jeff and Carole Parsons.  This was the first time I realized how awesome my guys can run while chasing another team.  I had to ride the brake the whole way...even up hills!

Jeff and Carole are up ahead of us and we are giving chase.  I think this will be my race strategy...chase the other guys...just as long as they are not Alaskan Huskies.

Cinnamon and Caillou.  Caillou is about 6 months old.

One of the many wrestling matches out our home.

Running hills at Sears Creek.  My guys stopped and told me to get my fat butt off the cart and help.

Jay Justice's Alaskan Huskies.  His kennel is call Crescent Moon Kennels.  Shown with the dogs is Jeff Parsons.

Jeff and Carole Parson's Dog Box.  They run 7 Mals...getting them to stop is an adventure.
