February 601
2-3-601 (Friday)
Well I finally met up with Gregor today. Thank Goodness my journey here was
uninterrupted. He was with his friend Desdimona. After all he's said about her
to me, I found her pretty nice. We continued our journey north to another
kingdom where we would be staying for the weekend, and once there, I even had
the pleasure of meeting his squire Daylynn. He is a very nice man, but he's
still nowhere as good as Rabbitt. I don't care what Gregor says.
2-5-601 (Sunday)
As usual, Gregor and I ended up fighting. I really don't know what to do
about him anymore. All I tried to do was explain to him that though I liked
Daylynn, I didn't want him babysitting me and he just blew up. Finally after he
began mocking me, I left the cabin and went to adventure with more level-headed
people, like Krieger. Of course, we talked again later, but only after I insisted. I just
don't know if it's worth it anymore. He is too much into his new life I think.
2-6-601 (Monday)
It was wonderful to return home to my friends...Dustyn and Eric and even
Horatio were there. I missed them all so much. Strangely enough though, the inn
and the woods around were charred. Olven, the innkeeper, and the others kept
insisting that a fire had just broken out nearby, but after talking with Dustyn
later I found out this was not the truth. I really hate it when I am lied too!
It seems we had visitors while I was away... Not again...please not again.
2-7-601 (Tuesday)
Will they never leave us alone? You would think after causing all that
damage to the inn, that would have been satisfied and left, but no... What are
they after? What do they want? They don't need to do this... And now Eric is
missing... I looked for him. I know he is hurt too...badly, though he's still
alive. I could not find him. What kind of friend am I?
2-9-601 (Friday)
::whimpers:: I really do not know how much more of this I can bear. I
have been gone almost 3 days now and before I left, Diakaryu was gravely ill. I
returned only to find him dead... Fortunately he resurrected successfully
and returned to us again. Anything else would be to much for me to bear right
now I think.
It seems that Eric, Dustyn, and I are learning more and more about this Curious
fellow and his friends. But just when we think we have things figured
out...something else happens that doesn't fit. Like this night after Diakaryu
returned. He led us to a place he said to have seen a portal appear. The area
was surrounded in fog so thick I could not see but 2 feet in front of my face.
It was a good thing Diakaryu was there, as Eric and Dustyn and I were roaming
helplessly until he appeared and led us through it as though it were not
there. Once through the fog, I felt as though my stomach would empty
itself right there. From the sky came rain...not water...but blood. As I stood
there in surprise, a black horse...or at least a part of a black horse fell at
my feet. As I turned to wretch, a small goblin arm hit me in the head. Turning
back around I saw that the pieces and parts of many creatures were falling from
the sky, and my fur was being soaked in blood. Then I saw it...a black dragon in
the sky...and laughter all around us. Then, the dragon....ummm...exploded!! I do
not know the power that could destroy a dragon in such a manner, but I fear
meeting it face to face...
2-10-601 (Saturday)
This really is beginning to be too much for me...now Eric has died...
2-12-601 (Monday)
As always, my friends return to the Inn, and this time it was Eric. He
claims he did not die, but was actually taken by someone. Strange since it
looked like he dissipated. Ah well, he was feverish and seemed quite mad, so
maybe it is the sickness talking. I had him go to bed and was packing to leave
when I heard a knock at my door. Lo and behold, when I answered it, there stood
an old friend of mine from Baddira....Lardas. Only it has been years since I had
seen him and it appears he has taken to using the name Xanatos instead. It was
pretty nice to see him again except for the fact that he got into everything and
tore up my room. ::sighs:: Finally, after he decided to calm down a bit during
dinner, Dusty talked with me while I waited for Kiril to arrive as he said he
would. We talked for a long time. Kiril never showed. I hope he's okay. I
haven't gotten a letter or anything.
2-13-601 (Tuesday)
I was out playing on Dusty's new obstacle course when I heard a strange
sound, so I jumped in the bushes to wait. I was in shock at the sight that
appeared...Diakaryu...bloody, torn, and just...messed up. Once I fixed him up
some, he told me he had been grabbed during the night by something unseen and
awoke in a cave with hundreds of other people. It was dark and they were scared.
As if that wasn't bad enough, suddenly some huge machine appeared and basically
slaughtered them all...or at lease most of them. Diakaryu barely escaped and
somehow made his way back to me. He was desperate to get back and help anyone
else who had gotten away, so I offered to go with him.
The cave was several hours away, so I was amazed that Diakaryu was able to get
back at all in his condition. We reluctantly went inside and looked around.
There was nothing but blood and shredded clothing as far as I was able to tell.
We were going to look further in, but I was a bit scared so Diakaryu agreed to
leave. He helped me out of the cave, and then instead of preparing to leave as I
thought we would....he offered to dance with me. I didn't know how to dance, but
it sounded fun...even if it was an odd time to do so. Anyway, he was showing me
a few steps when, to our luck, a gypsy troupe wandered in and offered to play
for us. We danced all night I think and it was wonderful.
2-16-601 (Friday)
I am so angry I could bite someone. Diakaryu reported to me this day that during
his explorations of the area that morning, he had come to a nearby village that
was starving due to the evil and malicious acts of someone blighting their
crops. The other towns nearby are low on food as well at this time due to the
winter and so had none to spare. I, of course, asked the local granary to send
some extra food their way to make up for the loss and headed off with Diakaryu
to see what I could do in the meantime. Along the way, we stopped and purchased
what goods we could find to help out, and by the time we got there, we had
enough to feed them until the wagons of grain could arrive. Diakaryu was
generous enough to purchase most of the food and even helped divvy it out while
I talked with the people. I will have to remember to repay him somehow for his generosity.
2-18-601 (Sunday)
I had planned to go back this night to the village and check on the people
there, but decided to practice a few of skills before I left. Again I was out
playing on Dusty's obstacle course when
Eric found me. He wished to talk, and so I walked off with to see what was on
his mind. We just quietly walked for a moment before he began speaking, but once
he did, the news he relayed to me was not good. He had awoken a few days back in
an earth circle after resurrecting and he did not remember how he did or who
killed him. He said he found his belongings near the spot where he died, which
he assumes is such because of the signs of struggle he found nearby, so it does
not appear to be bandits.
After gaining what information I could pertaining to his ordeal in the hope that
we could find his killer, I went back to the inn for a hot meal before
journeying again that night. I had just gotten my food when Diakaryu surprised
me with some flowers and news of the village. He had gone out there already that
morning and found many of the children sick. It seems some of the food we had
gotten was overripe and had gone bad. He had healed them up though and then
quickly returned to accompany me back. Since he had already been out there that
day, we were in no hurry and so stopped along the way in a clearing to have a
small picnic. It was a nice change from the food in the inn. Not that Olven
serves bad food, but how many plates of spiced potatoes can you eat before you
wished to never see another plate of them again? Anyway, halfway through the
meal, a small goblin girl burst out of the bushes and ran through the clearing
at full speed. We stopped to watch this scene for a moment and jumped up to
watch for what was chasing her. When nothing appeared...Diakaryu suggested we
check on the girl and see if she was ok. I agreed and began to pack up the food.
He told me to leave it so I threw it back down and began to retrieve my weapon
and shield as he hurried off. Hoping there wasn't something in the bush next to
me as Diakaryu had left me behind suddenly, I slowly took off in his general
direction hoping not to be left to far behind. I walked for a few minutes in
what I hoped was the way he had gone, and soon heard his voice up ahead. I
rushed to catch up, but he yelled back for me to stay where I was...so I
stopped. I was thinking maybe there might be something nasty up ahead and he had
stopped me for my own protection, but as I listened, I could make out the faint
voice of a girl child and realized he was just talking to the goblin. Frustrated
I made my way back to the picnic area and cleaned up as I waited for him to
return. After a few moments, I remembered his strange fondness for goblins and
realized he was not going to be back anytime soon, so I headed off to the
village on my own. After a few hours of walking without trouble, I finally got
there and found that the wagons had indeed arrived with the food I had asked
for, and the children were better now as well. I stayed for a few hours to talk
with them and hopefully uplift their spirits some, and then returned back to the
inn before it grew too late.
Sometime during the night I vaguely remember
Diakaryu waking me. I guess he had finally noticed I was gone. Anyway, he gave
me some story about saving princes and seeing a king. Wow, that must have been
some game he was playing with that little girl.
2-19-601 (Monday)
Had a long talk with Eric tonight. Was interesting to say the least, but maybe
he is right. We will have to see...
After my talk with Eric, I went back to my room to rest. As I was starting to
get undressed...I heard a noise. Quickly I turned to my bed...bad memories
welling up from that other night...but the mattresses were still on the floor
where Dusty and I had put them. Thinking maybe I had just made it up, I went
back to undressing again. I was tired after all...and a nap was something I was
looking forward too. That's when I heard the noise again. Now I knew this time
that I hadn't made it up, so I went to the closet to grab my sword. But as I
opened it...a huge claw came out and grabbed me by the throat. I tried to scream
for help, but only a gurgle came out. Using my claws, I attempted to get it off
of me, but my attacks were futile. My sword was inside and I struggled to grab
it, but it was just out of my reach. I was beginning to feel lightheaded. If I
did not break its grip soon, I would pass out. Suddenly it threw me back against
the wall. My head hit hard and I could see stars as I slowly slid down to the
floor. My arm hurt...and I looked down to see the jagged end of bone ripped
through my skin. It was definitely broken. The claw came for me again, and as I
braced myself for the blow...the door opened and Diakaryu stepped in. I could
see his hands begin to glow as he looked at me. Then I felt the claw rip through
my chest and my world turned black to the sounds of his chanting voice.
Once again, I woke to Diakaryu's concerned look. And once again, he tended to my
wounds and soothed my fears. I'm seriously considering getting another room at
the inn. It seems that Curious and Fragment are not dead as I had assumed. First
the hands under the bed and now the claw in my closet. What next? Tentacles in
my tub?
Well, at least the night ended on a good note. Diakaryu and I stayed up to play
a game. The details of it are fuzzy at best...due to the fact that I was tired
and it was late, but it seems that I won. Woohoo...I like to win.
