NDRG Super Gas 2004
STATISTICS

Last updated October 5th 2004

Countries;

Look at the Technical Data Page for overview of all the cars.

First we will take a look at which countries the participants came from.
A total of 80 drivers from 8 counties. I don't think any other Super Gas series in the world has particpants from that many counties!
Only 3 women competed.
The series has races in 4 countries: Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark.
Sweden has the most drivers with 30, followed by England with 20. Norway just beats Finland to 3rd place with 12 drivers. Two more than Finland's 10.
The Swedes also took 5 of the first 10 places, including the first 4. Norway is 2nd with 3 drivers in the top ten before Finland with 2.
But we must mention here that the English drivers rarely competes outside their own country.

Notes:
We use the country where a driver lives as his home country. There is some norwegians living in sweden and vise versa.
We have listed the best driver from each country.

Cars:
Looking at car makers, it is not a surprise that Chevrolet is the most popular car with 35 of the 80 cars. A whopping 44%!
But more surprising is that only one driver in the top 10 drove a Chevy!
It's not surprising that Ford is 2nd either, with 21 cars. But in the top 10 Ford rules with 7!
One note here is that 7 of the Fords are european bodies, (2 of those in the top 10).
Plymouth is 3rd with 5, one more than Pontiac's 4. But note that 2 Pontiacs takes the first 2 places. And they are both '85 Firebirds!
AMC/Jeep, Volvo and VW have 3 cars each. Interesting to note here is that all 3 AMC/Jeep drivers are from Norway and (perhaps not surprisingly) all 3 Volvos are Swedish.
We have 2 Toyotas, both american V8 powered, one Finnish and one from England.
BMW, Dodge, Honda and Vauxhall had one car each. Only one Dodge is a surprise.

If we look at car pr. country, Chevrolet and Ford is no. 1 and 2 in Sweden, England and Norway. Volvo is 3rd in Sweden, AMC/JEEP is 3rd in Norway and the English have no other cars than Chevy or Ford with more than one entry.
The Finns are different with Ford and Plymouth tied for first with 3 each. Finland has always been a strong country for Mopars!
We also here include the best driver for each Maker.

Car Types:
If we devide cars further into types or models, we find that the Camaro is the most used car model. Not a surprise at all. But no Camaros in the top 10 is surprising! Best Camaro is Finnish driver Kari Lukkonen. He was also so unlucky to crash his car, but I am sure this has nothing to do with the fact that he came 13th.
2nd most popular car type is the Chevy Nova with 11 cars, but only one in the top 10.
The Mustang is 3rd with 6, but half of them ended in the top 10. So the Mustang is the most used car among the top 10 drivers.
Ford Roadsters (T-27 replicas), Ford Anglia/Popular(English body) ties for 4th with 5 cars each.
And the Chevelle/Malibu comes 5th with 4.
One strange thing is that only one driver raced a Corvette! The Corvette Roadsters has certenly not catched on here in Europe yet.

And again we include the best driver for each car type.
