This year everything was ready for the first race of the season. Norwegian Spring Nats at our home track Gardermoen.
11 drivers from Norway and Sweden showed up to race.
We haven't done anything new to the car this year, just checked that everything is OK.
We started qualification with three 10,0's. Perfect if the Super Gas break-out wasn't 9,90. The top speed had also dropped a couple of MPHs compared to the last race at Gardermoen. We thought back to the last race of 2003 where we changed to smaller jets in the carb. Maybe that was not such a good idea anyway? The sparkplugs was quite black and every expert we asked said we should change to smaller jets. But we went back to last years larger jets, and got back the top speed and and ran a 9.913. We then ran three high 9,80 and a 9,924 which showed that we were back on track.
The 9,913 was good enough for a 3rd qualifyer.
Petter Sukkestad of Norway managed a 9,900 for the first time in his long career. Quite impressive, regarding that he doesn't run a throttle-stop, but he is a master of dialing in his rev limiters.
We were also beaten by Swede Mikael Karlsson who ran a 9.907. He races without any electronics like we did before.

First opponent for us was Christer Uhlin in a '64 Fairlane. Morten beat him on the tree but we won it on a double break out with a 9.839.


Next opponent was probably the most experienced Super Gas racer in Norway, Roy Johnny Ødegård in his '81 Camaro. We beat him with a 9.908. Perfect !!! (Also the best time in the Eliminations)

In the semi-final we met 1st qualifier Sukkestad, but with the good result from the previous round we felt quite confident.
Both drivers fell asleep at the tree, our car dropped a few MPHs in top speed again and we lost it with a 10.051. Strange.
On the other side of the ladder, last year's No.2 Håkan Mattsson went out on a fail-stage (???) and Mikael Karlsson broke out with 0.005 sec. to Steinar Løvold who got a bye run to the final.
Sukkestad later beat Løvold in the final, so it was a perfect start of the season to him, beeing 1st. qualifier with a 9.900 and winning the race. Too bad he doesn't race outside Norway! (Or maybe good for the rest of us.)
