The scene opens to the TWW Arena, sometime after a house show. Most of the fans have left, a few are hanger around hoping to get an autograph. A popcorn vender is walking around trying to sale his remaining merchandise. You can tell he's tired and he wants to go home, but he needs to sell the remaining bags.
Vendor: POPCORN!!! POPCORN!!! HALF PRICE!!!
A few kids walk up and buy several bags. There's only one bag left, and the vendor wants to get rid of it.
Vendor: POPCORN!!! HALF PRICE!!! ONLY ONE BAG LEFT!!!
Mystery man: Hey, I'll take so popcorn.
The voice came from behind the backstage curtain. The vendor looks around, but doesn't see anyone.
Vendor: Who said that?
The curtain ruffles a little bit and Vol steps out. He's wearing the same attire he had on that night during his match, his shirt is drenched in sweat, and he's walking with a little limp.
Vol: I did, I want some popcorn.
Vol walks up to the vendor and starts to hand him some money, but the vendor shoves his hand away.
Vendor: Ahhhh, don't worry about. You put on a nice match. The popcorns on the house.
Vol: Thanks man.
Vol starts to walk back behind the curtain, but one of the kids must have spotted him because a group of about five run over to him. There all extremely excited and want autographs. Vol takes time, asks there names, and gives each one an autograph. He then walks back behind the curtain, and the screen fades to black.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The scene reopens as Vol is walking down a corridor, the bag of popcorn in hand. He takes a couple bites, and then with a disgusted look on his face, tosses it into a nearby trash can. Vol walks through a black door, which is apparently his locker room. Inside ther's a large black leather sofa, several folding chairs, a small TV, and a mini-refrigerator. Paul is sitting on the sofa with a Diet Pepsi. Vol sits down on the sofa; he looks exhausted. Paul reaches in the mini-fridge and pulls out another Diet Pepsi. He tosses it to Vol>
Paul: So, how'd you do?
Vol: You didn't watch me?
Paul: No, Drew carrey was on. It's 10 times better than watching your sorry [bleep].
Vol: My sorry [bleep]. Whatta you talking about? In case you didn't know, I'm undefeated.
Paul: Yeah I did know that for teh 10,000th time, but you haven't had any competion. You've only fought a bunch of no name jobbers.
Vol: Maybe, but I can beat the best that the TWW has to offer.
Vol screws the cap off his diet and takes a big gulp.
Vol: Uggggghhhhh!!! How do you stand this stuff? It's nasty.
Paul: You'll learn to like it, seeing that it's the only pop you can drink now. You've got to get in shape. I've seen some of your matches lately, and your breating harder than an obscene phone caller.
Vol: Shut up old man. I could whip your [bleep]. So who are you to tell me to get in shape.
Paul: Hey, I'm not old. I'm only 39.
Vol: Yeah, you have been for the past 3 years.
Vol starts to laugh, but Paul has an angry look on his face.
Paul: Anyways, what happened out there tonight? Anything I should know about?
Vol: Well, I pinned some loser named Casey Nolan for the 3 count. And Mr. Swift came out. He announced some kinda tournament for the Nations Title.
Paul: You in it?
Vol: Yeah, I gotta match Friday.
Paul: Who you fighting?
Vol: Some idiot named Jake...uhhhh...Jake-
Paul: It's not Jake West is it?
Vol: Yeah, that's the losers name.
Paul: Hahahahaha!!! Man, are you gonna get your [bleep] kicked.
Vol: What are you talking about? You're my trainer, you're supposed to support me, say positive things, not tell me how bad I'm gonna get whipped.
Paul: Hey, I'm just preaching the truth. I mean you might be able to beat him, but let's just say my money is on Jake.
Vol: So how do I beat this guy, you smart [bleep].
Paul: For starters you can start respecting me. Then you're gonna have to start training...hard. And this time without a chair.
Vol: I was just joking around with the chair, and I'm gonna train hard this time. I gotta beat this guy. I need some gold around this waist.
Paul: Good, that's the kinda attitude you need to have. So let's get to work.
Vol gets up off the couch and grabs a change of clothes. Paul does the same. He puts his stuff in his black duffel bag and the two walk out the door. The screen fades to black. |
