One of the hardest parts of hand feeding /  raising baby cockatiels, is waiting for the baby to hatch. We are still waiting.

So while we are waiting let us assemble our  tools and what ever.

There are most likely several different types of  instruments used to feed the babies.

This however is our choice. the first one holds 1 cc, the 2nd 3 cc and the 3rd one is 10 cc.

We also use an eye-dropper for the real little babies. But that is for unusual circumstances, and we will not cover that at this time.

This is very critical. You MUST use a thermometer to check the temperature of the baby's food.

The food should be 105F degrees. Anything more can and will cause serious injuries to the baby.

To cold will also harm the baby. This can cause serious crop problems that could also lead to the death of the baby.

So USE a thermometer. The one in the midle is digital. I love it, no guessing. The other 2 are just regular cooking thermometers.

This also is pretty serious. You have to have  a supply of hand feeding formula. I am not going to tell you which one to get, if you ask I will tell you what we use.

The serious part here is the mixture. Follow the recommendations on the back of the container.

There are some things you might want to add to the mixture, like baby food applesauce. it is suppose to aid in the digestion of the formula.

We are currently feeding 2 other babies, and they are really going through this mixture. We are using 1 part formula, 1 part applesauce, to 3 parts water. I am impressed at how the babies are using it.
