Ziggy, how precious this little bundle of brawn and daring. A beautiful pearl. Here he is at 30 days old 8/31/98

These are a some of the "guys" talking bout the temperature. "This was the hottest summer we have ever seen in our whole lives."  There was one day when it was 111 at 5 PM today.

This is Belle. When we rescued her on 23rd of June 98, she had some serious problems. The Vet said she was severely malnourished and stressed from overbreeding. That she  also was calcium, iodine, and vitamin deficient. He also stated that she probably would not survive, this ordeal.

She has made tremendous improvements in the past 2 months. This is Belle after a month of treatment.  On this day,  7-21-98 she was finally able to get on the perch. How bout a big hand for Grisabella.

The sad part of this, is that her mate did not survive. This was because the previous owners were more concerned with producing baby birds than they were concerned with the health of the parent birds. They stated that, "the pair had laid egg after egg and clutch after clutch, but no babies hatched because something had kept steeling the eggs."

Friends of ours rescued some of the bigger birds that were also showing signs of maltreatment.
Most all these birds were caged out doors even in adverse weather conditions. Temperatures exceeding 100 degrees.  These birds were fed a diet of mainly sunflower seeds. And the water bowls were lined with yukky green stuff It is a wonder that any bird survived this terrible situation.

For those of you that requested to see the star of the show, here he is Tequila. He will be signing autographs next Tuesday.
