Her Little Surprise

Faith shivered as she walked down the hall of the doctor's office. Every time she came to the doctor, she had flashbacks of those eight months she spent in the hospital. Not something she ever wanted to remember again.

She glanced at the door before pushing it open. "121," she read the numbers. "Just what room the nurse said she was in." She pushed open the door.

Spike glanced over, grinning at his mate. "Hey, Faithy."

"Spikey. How's the witch doing?" She nodded towards Willow, who was laying on the bed, looking off to the side.

"Still not well," Spike said, stroking his best friend's hand. "I'm glad Graham is coming home tomorrow."

"Yea, I'm sure she is too," Faith remarked, sitting on the counter by the sink. "Hey, Red, so you wake up sick in the morning, and you've been tired. Do you think you are doing some weird witch coming of age thing?"

Willow focused on Faith. "I don't know," she said softly. "It's weird, you know? I feel like... well, like I'm sick, but I'm supposed to be. It feels....right. Maybe it is a coming of age thing. I guess you can come of age at 25." She shrugged.

"Whatever it is, pet, Dr. Livingston will get rid of it," Spike said.

Right about that moment, the doctor in question walked in. "Mrs. Miller, where is your husband?"

Willow looked at her doctor. "He's been away," she replied softly. The military had sent both Riley and Graham to Washington, where they were on some sort of Top Secret Mission.

"Is he returning soon?"

Willow sat up. "Tomorrow. Am...am I dying?"

Dr. Livingston laughed. "Quite the contrary, Willow. You are very much alive. As is the little one you carry."

"Oh, thank Goddess," Willow said, laying back down. A moment later, she shot back up. "The WHAT?"

"You aren't sick, Willow. You are pregnant."

Once the trio made it back to Willow's house, she went and sat on her bay window, where she did all her important thinking. She stared out the window in a daze. She knew Graham would be excited, and would be a wonderful father. It was herself that she was worried about. She didn't exactly have the best parents growing up.

"Faith?"

"Yea, Red?" Faith glanced up at her troubled friend.

"What if I'm a horrible mother? I mean, I had Shelia Rosenberg for a mom. It's not like she was the best influence."

Spike started laughing.

Willow glared at him. "What is so funny, blondie?"

"Red," he said softly, "you will be a wonderful mother. You are the most compassionate, caring woman I know."

Willow's face softened. "You think so?"

"I know so, pet."

------

Buffy stared at Willow. 'You mean...and then you....but....and....how?"

Willow smiled. "Ok, Buffy, when a man and a woman love each other, they want to express that love physically...."

Buffy giggled and swatted at her best friend. "Willow, I know HOW. I'm just saying. I mean, was it planned?"

Willow sat back. She had went over to the Finn residence to tell Buffy her good news. "No, not at all."

"Were you using protection?" Buffy asked, suddenly worried. She had been on the Pill almost her entire marriage, not wanting to have a child yet. Not until she felt she was ready to step away from being the Slayer forever.

Willow blushed slightly. "No. I mean, we talked about it at first, and then just decided whatever happens, happens." She shrugged. "Three years of shagging like bunnies, and nothing happened. I guess we kinda forgot about it and just moved on."

"Is Graham going to be cool about it?"

"Are you serious? This is a kid who grew up with four older sisters and a younger brother. He aches for a big family. He will be thrilled."

"Sheesh, Will, six? Think you can handle that?"

Willow laughed. "I promised him no more than three. I myself prefer two. Sucks being an only child."

"Don't I know it," Buffy muttered. "Hey, I wonder if it's a boy or a girl?"

"Dunno." Willow shrugged. "I am only about six weeks..."

"Would you wig if she was a she and she ended up being the Slayer?" Buffy joked.

Willow's eyebrow rose at the thought. "Goddess, I hope not." She frowned. She looked at Buffy, who's worried expression matched her own.

"Do you think..." Buffy paused, gathering her thoughts. "Do you think you will move away? To protect the child?"

Willow laughed bitterly. "Of course not. I won't leave Sunnydale. I grew up here and survived and I didn't know anything. She's gonna have the protection of her Aunt Slayer."

Buffy leaned back, grinning. "Aunt Slayer. I like the way that sounds."

Willow rolled her eyes. "Silly Slayer."

"I'm gonna be an UNCLE?"

Willow winced at Xander, who was staring at his dearest and oldest friend in disbelief. "Uh...yea?"

"Willow Anne Rosenberg Miller, when did you start having sex?"

"Grow up, Xander," Anya said, playfully slapping her husband's arm. "She's been married for three years."

"But...oh my god. You are going to raise a child on the Hellmouth. Are you CRAZY?" Xander cried, sitting down.

"Xander, WE were raised on the Hellmouth."

"And look at how we turned out!" Xander exclaimed.

Anya rolled her eyes. "Yea, look how nutty the man I married is."

"Anya, you aren't helping," Xander growled.

"Because you are being an ass. We should congratulate Willow. This is a wonderful thing. Xander, aren't you the least bit happy for her?"

"I'm thrilled, honey, just...worried. That's all," Xander sighed.

Willow sighed, sitting back. "Like I told Buffy. She'll have the Slayer for an aunt."

"Well..." Xander said thoughtfully, "that makes me feel a *little* better."

"Can't...can't breathe....Angel...let go..."

Angel grinned at Willow and gently put the red head down. He had been so happy when Willow told him the news, he gathered her in a tight hug. His face fell. "I didn't...I didn't harm you or the baby, did I?" His face was a mask of concern.

Willow laughed. "No, of course not. I just couldn't breathe."

Angel looked worried for a moment. "I'm going to have to be extra careful around you now, I don't want to unintentionally hurt the baby..."

"Angel, it's ok," Willow said. "I will be fine. You don't have to act different. It's not like you throw me down on a regular basis."

Cordelia laughed, watching her mate and her friend Willow. "You two are just crazy." She leaned over and hugged Willow tightly. "Congratulations! Will you let us babysit sometimes?"

"Ooooh, I don't know, Delia," Angel said, frowning. "It would be so easy for me to hurt...."

Willow looked at Cordelia, her eyes pleading for Angel to shut up. "Sure, Del, I think that would be wonderful, so me and Graham can still have us time."

"Cool! It's settled. We will be your babysitters," Cordelia said, placing her hand on Angel's arm.

"But...but, Del, what if...I mean, what if I pick the baby up and..." Angel started.

"Angel," Cordelia said firmly. "You have never once hurt me, always treated me with the most gentle hand I've ever felt. I am sure that the baby's Uncle Angel will be just as gentle."

Angel smiled, looking at Willow. His eyes were shining with merriment. "Uncle Angel?"

"I wouldn't have it any other way," Willow grinned.

"Willow?"

Graham Miller looked around the house. It was dark and empty. He frowned. "I've been gone for a whole three weeks, and she's not even home when I get home?" He sighed.

He saw the light blinking on the answering machine. His heart raced. "Oh, no," he said softly. "What if there is a demon or something...or..."

Graham's heart stopped every time his wife went out on patrol with Buffy. He knew she would be fine, but it terrified him to think that one day she might end up dead.

He pushed the button and waited, anticipation filling the living room.

BEEP! "Wills, Buffy. Are you there? Has Xander and Anya already picked you up? Willow!! Girl, come on....are you...."

"Buffy, hey, I'm here." Willow sounded out of breath on the machine. "Just ran in from Angel and Cordelia's. Xan hasn't made it yet, but I gotta get ready real quick like so they don't have to wait."

"Cool. I am so excited! We haven't been to the Bronze in....days."

Willow's sweet giggle filled the living room. "I know. Angel and Cordelia aren't coming, they are having a romantic night out. Spike said he and Faith will meet us there."

"Good, I am SO excited! So ready to dance!"

"Yea." Willow giggled again. "I need to run, they'll be here in a minute."

"Bye!"

BEEP.

Graham stared at the machine. "I cannot believe that Willow went to the Bronze on the night I was coming home!" He frowned. "Hmmm....Riley should be home by now..." He dialed the number to the Finn home.

"Finn," Riley answered dejectedly.

"Hey, Finn, my wife isn't home," Graham said.

Riley sighed. "Good, atleast I'm not the only one home alone. Do you think they are together?"

"Yea," Graham said. "They are at the Bronze."

"THE BRONZE? God, they are happy to see us."

"I know," Graham replied wryly. "I think we should go to the Bronze, boys night out."

"I think that's a plan. I'll be over in 15."

"See ya." Graham chuckled. He hung up the phone. "You wanna play, Pixie? We'll play."

*-*-*-*

Music poured out of the Bronze like any other night. It didn't look as packed as usual. As a matter of fact, there wasn't many people there at all.

The two men looked at each other warily. "Well, let's go," Graham said, nodding at the door.

"Right behind ya," Riley replied.

The two walked into a darkened Bronze. "What the hell?" Graham asked.

The music shut off and the lights came on. "SURPRISE!!!" six different people yelled.

Graham and Riley looked shell shocked. Willow giggled and went to her husband, as did Buffy. "Thought we forgot?" Willow grinned.

"Pixie, you are one bad little girl," Graham said, kissing his wife softly. "I should have known."

"But you didn't, and that's the beauty of it."

Graham smiled at the perfection in his arms. He grinned at his friends, and then went to a table and sat down with Willow in his lap.

"I have to tell you something," Willow said softly in his ear.

"What?" Graham murmured, enjoying the feel of her breath on his ear.

"You have seven and a half months to fix up that third bedroom into a nursery," Willow whispered.

"Yep," Graham agreed. "I'll start tomorrow."

Willow waited patiently while she watched his face for any clue that he'd gotten what she said

Graham jumped up, still holding Willow. "A BABY!? We are having a baby!?"

"Yep," she said.

Graham kissed her long and hard. "A baby." He laughed. "Oh, Willow, I'm so proud of us!"

Willow giggled. She glanced around at her friends who were all smiling at her. "Yep. Our baby will be the safest baby in the world."

Angel smiled at Willow, trying to project with his eyes that he'd protect her baby with his life. She smiled back

"Congrats, guys!" Riley said. He shook Graham's hand. "Stud's got what it takes."

Graham laughed. "Apparently so." He glanced down at Willow again. "I love you."

"I love you too, Graham." She kissed him, glad that her husband was home.
