Willow blinked back tears. "What?"

Spike grinned, making him look almost maniacal. "Dru! She's here. She wants to run away with me! She's decided that I was better than the soddin' Chaos Demon!"

"Woah, Spike. . ." Willow frowned, holding back a sob. "I'm. . .I'm really happy for you. You know, that you've gotten Dru and all. I know you love her."

He smiled softly, a look of love entering his eyes. "More than bloody life itself, Red."

< Why does this hurt? > Willow thought. < It shouldn't hurt that Spike's leaving. I mean, we are friends. Nothing more. He hasn't even shown an interest in me. . .and goddess knows that before this, I wasn't even interested in him. I mean. . .*Tara*. I *do* have a girlfriend. Damn it. > "Well," she said. "I'm happy for you. It's good the two of you will be together again." She frowned slightly, knowing she was about to cry. "I. . .have to go. So. . .have a good life. If. . .if you get the chip out, just. . .don't come back here. Ok?"

He tilted his head, confused by the witch's apparent sadness. "Red? You ok?" He'd grown to like the redhead over the summer, as she entertained him while her girlfriend was away.

"Yea," she said, wiping her cheeks. "I'll. . .I'll see you later. Bye, Spike." She turned and walked away slowly, trying not to break into the run she wanted to.

Spike watched her curiously, then shrugged, turning the other way. He walked away from the witch, knowing his unlife was getting back on track and he was never stepping into Sunnydale again. His duster blew around his legs as he made his way back to the crypt where his Dark Princess was happily waiting for him.

Xander groaned softly, the loud knocking waking him up. "Go away!" he yelled, burrowing his head under the pillow. He was tired - so tired. He'd started his new job of construction, and the hard labor had gotten to him that first day. He just wanted to sleep.

"Xander, please. . ." Willow's voice sobbed through the door.

Xander frowned, sitting up. < It's Willow? Hmm. We haven't really talked. . .I mean, we haven't been that good of friends for a while. Why is she coming here? > Wearily, he crawled out of bed and went to the door, swinging it open. "Wills? Are you ok?"

Willow, who was standing on his tiny porch sobbing her eyes out, looked up. "Xander, he's leaving," she whispered.

With a frown, he pulled her in, shutting the door. He hugged her tightly. "Who, Wills?" he asked, brushing her hair away from her tear stained cheeks. "Who's leaving?"

"Spike," she whispered, staring off into the distance. "Dru wants him back. He's leaving."

"I know you two are friends, Wills. . .but does it upset you that much?"

"I. . .I think I was falling for him," she whispered quietly, her voice filled with pain.

Xander's heart broke, knowing his best friend was hurting. "God, Wills, I'm so sorry," he whispered, hugging her tightly. "You know I'm here for you. . .I will do anything you need, sweetheart."
