William Bradley - Research Boy, Warlock, and Hacker Extraordinaire - stared down at her unconscious form. He ran his black fingernail panted hands through his blonde hair, blinking icy blue eyes warily. His mind replayed all the times he'd seen, or spoken to the vampire that haunted his dreams and lay on Giles' bed. There was the time at Parent-Teacher night, when she
and her sister Drusilla raided the school. There was the time that she graced Sunnydale with her presence again, standing tall between her Sire Angelus and her sister, helping Angelus attempt to bring Sunnydale and the Slayer to its knees. Of course, in the end, she sold Angelus out, helping the Slayer to save the world from being sucked into Hell. She wanted to make sure that Dru lived. She did anything for the insane raven-haired vampire.
And then she returned, after Buffy specifically told her not too. She came back to Sunnydale for William, needing his Warlock powers to help her find Dru, who had met and fallen in love with a Chaos Demon. The vampire had spent the entire century since Angelus gained his soul taking care of Dru. She found that she was alone without her. And she wanted Dru back. William began to develop feelings for her that night, as he held the drunk sobbing vampire, crying over how everything she'd ever done for her Sire, or for her sister, never amounted to anything. How she tried so hard to be the strong one for all of them, and how she wouldn't have ever turned her Sire away when he gained his soul.
She left again, after finally giving up and telling the souled version of her Sire and the Slayer where William and his best friend Xander were located. William thought that was it, that he'd never see her again, but she returned! She found out the location of the Gem of Amarra, and tore up Sunnydale to find it. She fought with the Slayer, and somehow, as usual, the Slayer won. Buffy took the ring off her long fingers and decided to give it to Oz, who in turn took it to LA, where Angel now lived. William heard later that Angel's favorite childe followed Oz to LA and tortured the older vampire, trying to discover the location of the ring. It hadn't worked.
Returning to Sunnydale, vowing revenge, William was sure, she had been caught by the Initiative, and implanted with a chip. However, no one knew that she had the chip, or what it did to vampires, until she came into William's dorm room and tried to attack him. When she crumpled to the floor in agony, his heart went out to the beautiful vampire. He'd always wanted
her, and it thrilled him that she wanted him, but yet again, something kept them apart. She fled, angry. Eventually, she showed up on Giles' doorstep, looking pale and sickly, begging for help. She couldn't feed, and it showed in her sunken green eyes. They weren't filled with the mischievousness that William was used to seeing.
It was Thanksgiving day, and she had passed out from hunger. William was angry that they made her sit at the table, tied up, not allowing her to feed. When she collapsed from starvation, William scooped her up and angrily carried her upstairs. He returned downstairs, almost growling at his best friend Buffy for making the remark that they should just 'let the vampire die'. He heated up a mug of blood Giles had been kind enough to obtain earlier in the day and stalked back upstairs.
He waved the mug of blood under her nose. "Hey," he said softly. "Wake up."
Green eyes slowly opened. "Blondie?" she asked, her game face sliding into place. "What are you doing?" She eyed the blood hungrily, but warily. She knew it was some sort of trick.
"Letting you live," William replied. He pushed the mug into her waiting hands.
She drained the mug in a few seconds, licking her lips. "Thank you," she said, her yellow eyes bleeding back to green.
William blushed slightly, glancing down. He played with the bedspread. He'd never expected her to say thank you, or be that nice to him, but he enjoyed the warm and fuzzy feeling it gave him. "You are welcome, Willow."
