~*~*~*~
It was time.
Willow shivered nervously. She'd been prepared for this day for goddess knew how long, had done everything in her capacity that she could to make sure she would be ok. . .that she would retain her soul and not kill her friends. . .not become the skank that the vampire from Cordelia's wish universe had become.
But it didn't stop the fear from entering her body.
She glanced over at Angel, who was busy with his lover Xander, setting up the various items that would be needed for the restoration spell. She'd read and reread the spell so many times, making sure that there was no happiness clause.
Gaining a demon and losing her soul would have gone against everything she was, everything she ever fought for.
She glanced up, catching Xander's lust filled eyes watching her. He licked his lips and closed his eyes with a slight moan. She knew her fear was palpable, and that the reaction in Xander was going to happen. She could see Angel straining not to pay attention to her fear, to make sure that the ingredients were ready to be used at the right moment.
Of course the spell would work. . .it had worked when Angel embraced Xander, as the vampire still had his soul. "Wills," he said softly, walking around the bed to her. He pulled her into his arms, brushing his fingers along her face. "You will be ok. Don't be scared, dying isn't that bad." He grinned, most of the goofiness of his youth gone. "You will wake up soon, and be with us, as you are supposed to be."
"I know," Willow whispered. "I just. . ."
He leaned down, brushing his lips against her earlobe. "Besides," he whispered, "if you don't stop with the fear, I'm liable to throw you down and take you right here. I don't think your lover would like that very much. You know I'm not supposed to love you without his permission."
Willow laughed nervously. "I know. . ." She wiggled out of his arms; the erection pressing against her hip was too much to bear at that moment. She sat down on the bed, running her fingers along the blood red silk. "I just. . .I'm scared, Xander. What if something goes wrong? What if I don't drink? What if Angel doesn't have all the right ingredients? What if. . .what. . .what if. . ." Tears filled her eyes and slipped down her cheeks. "What if he doesn't want me a hundred years from now?" she whispered quietly. "What will I do?"
"Spike will always want you, Willow. He loves you," Xander said gently, kneeling next to his best friend. "And if, by some chance, he loses his mind and doesn't want you, then you know I will love you for eternity. I will always love you, and you are always welcome into my arms."
"But. . .what if Angel doesn't want you to want me?"
"No, Little One," Angel said softly, having moved to his lover and best friend. "You know you are always welcome in our hearts. Don't even think otherwise. You will always have a home. If not with Spike, then with us." Angel brushed his fingers along her cheek. "You are cherished. Please, don't ever doubt that."
Willow opened her mouth to speak when the slight bond she shared with her blonde mate began to tremor. He was near.
She glanced up through tear filled green eyes, watching him watch her. He was standing at the door, leaning against the frame. His arms were crossed and he looked as if he were studying her. "Red, are you sure you want to do this? I would be just as happy if you stayed human," he said softly, sadness flickering in his eyes.
"No, you wouldn't," she whispered quietly. "You don't want me growing old. . .you don't want me to die. And I. . .I don't want to. I just. . .Spike, I'm scared." Her voice trembled with fear.
Spike crossed the room in wide strides, kneeling in the place that Xander had just vacated. He took Willow's hands in his, running his fingertips along her palm. "Red, I love you. Please don't be scared that I don't, or that I won't. I do. I will always love you. You've reached a place in my
heart no one ever has."
"I. . .I just. . ."
Spike glanced up at Angel, and the brunette nodded slightly, moving back to the shadows of the room to sit with his lover while they waited. Everything for the spell was ready, it was only the matter of waiting.
"Pet. I want you to forget about this. Don't think about what is going to happen, only enjoy this. . .enjoy our time together."
She frowned. "I don't understand. . ."
He chuckled softly at her innocence. "You can't expect me not to shag you one more time as a human, Red. All that warmth? I have to sink into it once more. . ."
Her eyes widened. "But Angel and Xander. . ."
"Have seen us together before. You are the little exhibitionist, remember?" He laughed. "Just relax. Let me please you. I will let you know when it's time. . .I promise. I won't do it without you saying yes."
She smiled through her tears, running her fingers down his cheek. "Thank you, Spike."
He stood up and went to the CD player, fiddling with it. After a moment, he stood up, smiling.
A heartbeat echoed through the room. Willow moaned softly, lying back against the silk sheets. She knew the song, as it was one of her and Spike's. It was a seductive song, one she fell in love with the first time she heard it.
'A Love Song for A Vampire,' by Annie Lennox echoed between the thick walls of the room. Willow closed her eyes, allowing the slow heartbeat to relax her. A slight smile covered her face as she felt the tension leave her body.
The bed dipped as Spike lay next to his mate, running his fingertips along her cheek. "Come into these arms again," he whispered along with the song, "and lay your body down."
She turned to him, opening green eyes filled with love. "I love you," she mouthed. He leaned forward, capturing her lips in a kiss. She moaned against his lips, allowing them to open enough for his tongue to snake into her mouth. She brushed the tip of hers against his, causing him to groan and roll over, crushing her body between him and the bed. He pulled up from the kiss, smiling at the slightly swollen lips, half lidded eyes, and panting she was doing.
She whispered softly, "There is more - this trembling heart. . .it beats for you, it bleeds for you. . .it knows not how it sounds."
"For it is the drum of drums," Spike continued, trailing his lips along her neck. Her arousal grew as his blunt teeth scraped against her jugular. She moaned softly. "It is the song of songs. . ." He licked her jugular once, twice, then bit gently, the blunt teeth teasing the flesh.
"Clothes," she whispered. "Need to take them off. . .want to feel your body against mine, Spike. . ." She closed her eyes as he reluctantly pulled away, stripping both himself and the beautiful woman lying on the bed.
When he pulled her black silk panties off, he moaned softly. Her arousal filled the air, the sweet ambrosia making him feel lightheaded. It was a mixture of vanilla and roses, a scent that never failed to make him strain against his clothes.
He dropped to his knees beside the bed, grabbing her hips gently. He pulled her towards the edge. He pushed her legs apart, feeling her run her fingers through his hair. He leaned in towards her soft wet cinnamon curls, inhaling deeply. Her arousal filled his nose, rocked him to the core.
He brushed his nose against her clit, causing her to cry out. "Spike," she whispered, already dripping wet from the intensity of the moment, the song, the situation of joining her lover in his life of eternity. "Please. . .don't tease. . ."
He pressed his lips to hers, sliding his tongue between the folds. She gasped, her thighs tightening slightly. He began to drink from her, knowing that if he could survive on her warm juices alone, he'd never drink blood again. He titled his face up slightly, teasing her clit with his nose, smiling as her body trembled beneath his.
She tightened the grip in her lover's blonde hair, quietly begging a mantra: "Spike. . .please, goddess. . .please make love to me, Spike. . ."
Her warmth made his face tingle, his cock throb, every nerve in his body come alive. He knew that it wouldn't be much different once she was a vampire, just that she wouldn't be as warm. He knew that would be the only thing he missed about the human Willow - thankful that the spell would make her retain the soul his demon had fallen so much in love with.
His game face rippled over his features as he dragged the tip of his fang over her clit teasingly. The small movement slit the skin slightly, releasing just enough blood to sate his demon, and to make her cry out as she slammed into her first orgasm of the night.
She tightened, her body quivering under his. A plethora of colors exploded behind her closed eyelids, prickling the darkness with an intensity she had yet to experience. "The stars," she murmured softly between moans, "are bright as jewels. . .they shine for you. . .they shine for you. . they burn for all to see. . ."
Spike trailed tiny butterfly kisses up her body, pausing at her nipples, taking one, then the other in his mouth, biting gently on the hard nubs. She arched her body against him, making him want to pound into her with a fierce intensity.
He held himself back. He wanted to take this slow, wanted her to experience all she could her last hours of mortality.
When he trailed his kisses along her jaw line, she grabbed his face, holding it steady. She ran her tongue along his chin, cleaning her juices from his face. He quivered, knowing she enjoyed tasting herself on his skin almost as much as she enjoyed tasting him. She ran her tongue along his cheek, to the tip of his nose. She slowly ran her tongue up the bridge, running over each ridge with such agonizing slowness, Spike didn't know if he should purr or growl.
He decided to settle with a sound somewhere between the two.
Willow pulled away slowly with a grin, knowing that his ridges were one of the most erogenous zones of his body. "I love you so much, Spike. . ."
He smiled softly, his eyes crinkling with happiness. "I know, pet. After all, you are giving me your life for eternity."
"I wouldn't want to be anywhere else," she whispered, knowing that she spoke the truth.
The emotions he saw in his lover's darkened emerald eyes - the love, the acceptance, the complete happiness - were at once too much for him. He closed his amber eyes, knowing they were quickly filling with tears. He silently thanked a God that didn't believe in his kind anymore for bestowing such a precious gift upon him.
It took a full minute of her fingers kneading the side of his neck for him to gain control of his emotions once again. He opened his now midnight blue eyes and licked his lips. "Pet," he whispered.
"Go on against all hopeless nights," she murmured softly with the song, which Spike had set on repeat, "to search the ends of time. For there is in all the world, no greater love than mine." She smiled slightly, knowing it was true. No one in the world, the heavens, or hell loved Spike as much as she did. He was everything to her: best friend, lover, confidant. . .she couldn't imagine life without him, and couldn't quite figure out how she'd managed to make it for twenty-one years without him as such an important part of her world.
"Eternity, pet," he murmured, sinking into her hot tight canal. "I promised you eternity, and I will give it to you. . ."
She arched against him, pressing her pelvis against his, making him sink deeper. "I wouldn't ask for anything less," she whispered breathlessly.
It was the gentlest time the two had ever shared. Spike plunged into her slowly, pulled out so much that just the head of his cock was surrounded by her warmth, then sunk in again, repeating the process. She cried out softly on each downward thrust, feeling him glide against her tight walls. She dug her fingernails into his shoulders, drawing blood. She leaned up, running her tongue along the bloody crescent moons, knowing that soon, she would drink enough of the thick liquid to grant her an eternity with him.
It wasn't long before the slow thrust moved to something a little more forceful, as he was nearing orgasm. He pounded into her, still maintaining the gentleness, but with an urgency she'd never felt before. He wanted to drink her, almost drain her, as she came, knowing that would be the only way her body wouldn't cry out in pain.
His features flickered from human to vampire, his eyes burning gold. "Red," he whispered, holding his orgasm back. He promised her he wouldn't until she gave her permission.
She opened her eyes, knowing this was the moment. She was teetering on the edge of orgasm, and knew that the embrace was less painful if she were in the throes of passion. His eyes asked the unasked question. . .the one she feared, yet waited for with baited breath.
She tilted her neck, baring it for him. "Set this spirit free," she whispered softly, closing her eyes with a small prayer to her Goddess.
Spike's game face fully materialized, and he descended. As his fangs slid into her supple neck, she cried out, her orgasm hitting her head on. Her entire body shook with an intensity that, with the tightening of her walls, and the taste of her blood, made him explode. He purred around his fangs, his lips vibrating on her neck. He drank from her, closing his eyes. He drank all he could, listening carefully as her heartbeat slowed down.
He growled dangerously as he felt his sire and his sire's lover move towards them, even though in the back of his mind, he knew they were just making sure Spike didn't drink too much.
As soon as he could barely hear her heartbeat, and her breathing became shallow and almost non-existent, he pulled away, biting into his wrist. He moved the dripping wrist to her mouth, pulling it open. He waited patiently for her to latch on to his wrist, thus completing the circle of eternal life.
It was only a moment before her lips took hold of the skin, sucking at it desperately. He fed her as much blood as his body could handle before pulling his wrist away. Her eyes flew open, and they met his. He shivered involuntarily, as they were filled with pure unadulterated fear. She
blinked, gasping for air, and then the fear went away as she realized what was happening. She closed her eyes sleepily, a small smile gracing her features. "Love you," she whispered, before sinking into death's arms.
Spike took an unneeded breath, absentmindedly brushing away his tears when he felt her heart stop beating for the last time. He stood up, moving her onto the bed and covering her with the black silk comforter. "Sleep, pet. Soon, you will awaken." He leaned down, brushing his lips against her forehead. "I love you."
~*~*~*~
"Shouldn't she be awake now?" Xander asked, glancing at Angel.
"No, probably not. You were asleep much longer than she has been," Angel replied, glancing at his blonde childe.
Spike was sitting on the couch, motionless, waiting for her to wake up. He'd barely moved since embracing Willow, worried to the core of his bones that something was wrong. He didn't feel like anything was, but it didn't stop the fear from nagging at him.
Xander leaned against Angel, wrapping his arms around the older vampire's waist. "Willow is going to be a beautiful member of the undead community." He chuckled. "Deadgirl."
Angel laughed slightly, kissing his lover's forehead. He knew what Spike was going through, as he had went through it the year before when Xander decided it was time to join the ranks of the undead. He reached out, running his fingertips against Spike's shoulder. Spike turned his head
slightly, smiling at his Sire. "She will be fine," Angel assured him.
"I know," Spike whispered, nodding. "I know."

Willow woke up slowly, feeling as if she'd just surfaced a calm lake where she'd been held under far too long. She took a deep breath and blinked. "Spike?" she whispered softly.
And then the hunger started.
She moaned, clutching her stomach. "Spike," she sobbed. The pain was almost unbearable, more than she thought she could handle.
Her blonde lover was at her side in an instant, a mug of blood in his hands. Her game face slid into place as she took it from him with a grimace of a smile. "Thanks," she whispered, drinking it as quickly as she could.
In the end, it took four mugs of blood to fully sate her demon. She lay back against the blood red pillows with a sigh. "I don't feel that much different," she murmured to Spike, who had stripped and slipped into bed with her.
"Suppose not, pet, since you have the soul and all. Are they fighting?" he asked, concerned.
"No," she whispered, wrapping her arms around him. "They are both content." She closed her eyes sleepily. "Spikey?"
"Mmm?" he asked, running his fingers through her hair.
"Need a nap," she whispered, already half asleep. "Will you make love to me when I wake up?"
"Yes, of course I will, pet," he grinned slightly, kissing her lips softly. "I'll make love to you all day and all night for the rest of eternity."
With a smile, she pressed her body against him. "Promise?" she whispered.
He wrapped his arms around her tightly. "For eternity, pet. For eternity."
