Left Front: Melanie Price, Sharyn-Maree Bunt, Li-Sa Choi, Giles girl?, Gemma Calle, Kirsten Smith

Second Row: Frances Wregg, Barnes girl?, Josie Dries, Leonie Madden, Anne Edmonds?, Amy Clarke

Third Row: Deanne Murray, Cassie Nicolas, Melissa Deem, Kate Marsden, Mandy Walden

What do you think? There's a few question marks in there, but I'm pretty sure of most of them. Great photo, great memories. Looking forward to catching up with you all.

Guides - 1986.
Girl Guides - 1985 - "Sour Face" day! These Guides were practising their "sour" faces - obviously some of them found it more difficult than others!

These "more mature" girls will all be about 25 now, let's hope most of them can return for the re-union, or at least join "Tieri Talks" and tell us what you're up to!

Rumour has it that these girls managed to lose themselves between the Guide Hut and the Capella road!

It's NOT just a rumour!

The Scouts - Early Days!

Thanks to Gaye McPhee for these 3 excellent historical photos, and the accompanying unedited descriptions!

"The first initiation ceremony held at Tieri. Of course it has Peter Mcphee in it but shows the leaders to advantage -  Heather Sampson, Graham Watson, Roy Mcphee and Terry Brown. I cant remember where the ceremony took place but feel it was at the old mess in the construction site. This building later was transported to the land in town and is now part of the guide hut..... i think!? - Gaye McPhee"

"This is Peter McPhee's intiation form cubs to scouts and took place ?1987 at the lilly vale waterhole.from my fast fading memories i can remember a family day there, possibly tied to an australia day activity for the townspoeple and gregory employees...but i digress!.... leaders are jim baxter, kel o’sullivan, ?, and roddy. i am quite sure the boy to the left rear is matthew bruce then lachlan fergy. the boys wit their backs to the photo i feel sure are wally dries and a waterhouse boy and a nicholas boy... god how the memory fades! hope you find them fun... pardon the typing... i am in a terrible hurry. regards to whoever i am sedning these to - gaye mcphee"

"This group photo is, I believe the first gathering of the newly uniformed and initiated cub scouts. leaders from left of picture are terry brown, roy mcphee, ?, ?peter brady, roddy "speedy" gonzales,?jim baxter, graham watson and heather sampson. lots of smiling tiny faces would now be grown men and i can recognise peter mcphee (of course),lachlan ferguson, zac park, matthew bruce, wally dries, at least one of the waterhouse boys ?peter, kelly nissan and others whose names escape me but they will hit me at 3 oclokc one morning!! the original is of bad quality as it seems to be degrading but hope it may be of interest.- gaye mcphee"

NB Would one of you boys (young MEN!) with good memories like to send in the list of names of all these boys please!

Hello Mrs SQUIGGLE!
Hello Mrs Squiggle !!!

The Brownies and Guides of the early '80's (& their parents) will all remember Mrs Squiggle!

She could be found at most of the Brownie functions, and many other  functions around town!

Mrs Squiggle has received a special invitation to our Reunion, and says she would be delighted to come (if she can find her nose!).

Building the Guide Hut - the Removalists

Remember this ....??   The construction of the Tieri Guide Hut was a major achievement by the Tieri Girl Guides Local Association in 1984/1985.

Stage One - the roof is removed prior to transport from Oaky Creek to TieriThe first major step was to de-construct the ???? at ???? without damaging it too much.

This was  achieved by our team of miners, mining engineers, accountants, tradesmen, plus a team of willing workers. And yes, some builders who really DID know what they were doing!

Plus 2 Local Association "supervisors" who sat on a log and watched (prayed!).

Do you remember,  Rhonda!!

Remember Halley's Comet in 1986?

Halleys Comet Camp at Sapphire April 1986The Brownies and Guides all headed for the clear skies of the Gemfields for a "Comet Watching" Camp.

There were lots of tired eyes, but unfortunately the weather didn't co-operate and only the lucky few (who refused to go to bed!) saw a glimpse through the clouds.  But some of these (little!) girls might get a second chance in 2056!
