It's been a while, so here's some news....

1. Invitations will go out the end of August. They are being ordered now. Just waiting for Ota's O.K. on the style & wording.
2. We need addresses! Ota's side is severely deficient in addresses.
3. Dresses are still being tailored. We need measurements for Tracie (all) and Danie (back to ?).
4. Reception is still up in the air. We'd like to choose things when we know how many people are coming.
5. Aimee, Kimberly and I are going to Vegas at the end of August to firm up the hair appointments and wedding arraingements.
6. Bachellorette party invitations will be sent out soon as well.
7. Bridal shower is debatable... do I really need one?
8. Registries will be at Sears and Gottschalks (links provided when established) hopefully before the invitations go out... there is already a psuedo registry at Amazon.com.
9. Wedding time will be moved to 4pm so we can get the suite for Robert to take care of the newborn niece. ;-) Other children may need sitters if people decide to bring them. I don't know if the chapel can handle all the kids involved with this wedding...

The wedding in Montana was very nice. Danie looked beautiful. Her and Ken looked very happy.

Today I received a package from my cousin Danie. It has fabric, notions and a pattern. The pattern is almost identical to the ones for our wedding. A beautiful shade of blue too!

On other news, for guests wanting a discounted rate at the wedding site, the Rio at Las Vegas does offer 10% off. All you have to do is call and say you're with the Keagy-Klier party, and I believe the suites run $185 per night. My mother and Larry are staying at the hotel, which is great because that will make it easier to spend time with her before walking down the aisle.

Did I mention KILTs are REQUIRED for all men who are of kiltable lineage? I'll be posting the link for those needing specialized tailoring.

Kimberly, Aimee & I spent some time doing measurements recently as well. Kimberly & I are about a 1/2 inch difference all the way around, but some areas I'm 1/2 more, in others 1/2 inch less. ;->

More news later...

Had lunch with Elisabeth today. Really great catching up with her. We talked about wedding things and she brought up a point of interest. Jewelry! I hadn't even begun to think about that. I've barely gotten past the material of the dresses.

A word to those staying on the strip, October will be low season, and many hotels will have inexpensive rates. The best ones near the wedding center (epicenter?) would be either Ceasers, The Palms, or Hilton Flamingo.

Erik briefly explained some finer points of my intended's bachelor party. I'm so glad I'm not a that guy. I wonder if Ota will live to see the wedding day based on the itinerary I've heard.

For a few moments last week we spent time adding preliminary gift ideas to an amazon.com registry. It was just an experiment to see how broad the additions could be. It's pretty limited, and not recommended for other brides to try to use. Unless, maybe this is your second or third marriage, and you don't really want to register. Anyway, the link to that registry is : http://www.amazon.com/o/registry/HE63BCHYM93N

What else? Ummm... everybody's getting pregnant! My sister is due towards the 1st half of October, so they plan to drive to Las Vegas. Airlines wont allow newborns onboard under 6 weeks. Just a cautionary note to other brides who are expecting out of town guests who are prego! Also, our dear friends Tammy & Eric plan to have a bouncing baby somethingerother around the first week of November. They plan to skip the out of town travel, understandably. I would too, because I wouldn't want to hazard giving birth to my first born on a road trip through the desert.

My side (TK) of the family has traded in all their time share options so they can stay on the strip near the wedding site.

Nothing else new to report, since I'm not yet ready to deal with the reality of life. Still finishing my final papers... Crikey!

How computer nerds propose...

This BBS thread was sent to me by a friend. I'm totally shocked at how much detail this guy went into for the hard drive casing and power supply cables. Plus, he kept it a complete secret, which is impressive.

The fabric hunting was semi-successful. Aimee & K2 & I found some great material, but there's even better material in S.f. On 2/22/04 we're headed there for more searching. Tracie is going to join us, which is great. The wedding dress itself is conceptualized. Now, Aimee just has to find the right patterns. Bridesmaid dresses are started. We're getting measurements from the others soon I hope.

As for the location, we've put the down payment on The Rio Suites Las Vegas wedding chapel. They can seat up to 100 in the largest chapel. After writing out the guest list, it appears we have 119 people total, but only if all the kids attend. Hopefully, parents will be using this opportunity as a due vacation, since Vegas isn't really built for children. Also, that is about 28 children all told; 8 are from just one family! But, if the kids do come, I guess we'll have to work out an arrangement with sitting services off-site.

Ota & I have begun talking about registries. He wants to do Sears (tools) and I want Target & Gottschalks. We're still debating, since we really just want everyone to come to enjoy themselves... but at the same time we need new towels. ;-)

I've asked Reva indirectly to do the wedding favors. I would have loved to been able to have her do the cake, but that's part of the package. We're not allowed much of anything to come in from the outside. Flowers, pictures, alcohol, and a few other items are not allowed. This has made the reception a larger issue, and probably a larger cost.

I'm not going to use this, since our wedding will be indoors.
