Much has happened since Onyx's return to his family's life. In his personal life he has gained the ability to speak and hear when he wishes to through the use of a magic gift given to him by his now dead brother-in-law Jonathan Corwin. He has been engaged twice, both times in the end he found himself used for his size instead of loved for his heart. In one of those relationships he gained a son named Onyx Jr. Before that, however, he had two sons with a close friend of his through a complicated plot of revenge and deception. With that friend, Cher Macelli Capelli, he gained sons Frank and William, whom he wishes to have a normal life without the training and weight that his own life has carried. His horse Benny also has changed, he showed his true form to be one of the original humans created and has since decided to stay in his human form and is in a serious relationship with both Sarah and Cher Macelli Capelli.
On a professional level much has happened also, Saphire discovered his profession and accepted it. His company tried to eliminate him and so he took over by force and now runs the newly named DarkSilver Co with a heavy hand yet strategic mind. That company has now merged with another company called Masonry Twill, it's founder Andromeda Kai a strong and highly intelligent woman.
Again on a personal level, the merger has brought with it something that was quite unexpected by both parties. While readying for an undercover assignment, deep strong feelings were discovered for Andromeda and what they have together is yet to be fully determined as is weather it will last past the assignment or not as she is technically engaged to a man whom she never sees and from what he has seen obviously does not love her.
