You shake your head rapidly as you come quickly out of the storm that is brewing outside.  Water flies everywhere as you do.  Looking about yourself you smile.  As dreary as the weather it seemed outside, Artaq Weyr was was dry and warm.  A flash of lightning lights up the doorway you just went through and as the thunder crashes loudly outside, you hear a yelp of fright.  Seconds later you're bowled over by a young man of about 16 turns.

"Are you alright?" the boy askes after skidding to a stop a few paces away from you.  He starts to help you up, "I'm sorry, I didn't see you... the watch wher was chasin' me."

As he help you up you take a better look at him. He's tall for his age, 6' 2", and seems to not be quite done with his growing; you think he'd look taller if he didn't slouch  so much on his right.  His unruely hair is a redfuirt-blond color and his eyes are a very light brown, while his skin is darker than your usual tan or serious burn.  He wears an off white shirt which would plooms out in the arms if it were not for the rain and a black vest over the shirt.  His pants are a deep brown, almost black, shade, and tucked a bit messly inside his tall black wherhide boots.  Around his neck he wears a simple sliver necklace with a small dragon or fire lizard charm on it; the blue-green jewel used for the eye glints playfuly back at you.

"You're new around here aren't you?" you ask the boy after a moment.  A lopsided grin appears on his rougish features.

"Yeah, just arrived from Frethin Dolphineer Hall by
Talor Cliff Weyr," he smiled then stuck out a grubby thin hand in greeting, "Name's, Aretukito, ex-apprentice dolphineer."

"Recarta, Journeywoman runner," you reply and then tilt your head, "Ex-apprentice dolphineer, why's that?"

Aretukito, motioned you to follow him before he answered, "I decided I'd like to see about being a dragonrider... that and the dolphins didn't really take to me much."  As you follow him from behind you notice that he seems to be limping heavely on his right leg.

"Aretukito, are you hurt?" you ask gently, "Did you hurt yourself when you acidently knocked me down?"

Aretukito stopped short in front of a door.  He opened it  but didn't look in or look at you.  You could see a heavey sigh excape him.

"No, it's nothing like that, Recarta," he replied in a dead pan voice before motioning you to proceed him into his room.

As you walk into the room you blink in surprise.  The room seems to be in a bit of a mess, yet only in one small area.  in the far right corner of the weyr, for that is what it was, was a small table with a chess game set up on it.  Saddly the pieces of the game are seemingly thrown everywhere on the board, one or two having rolled off the table.  Clothes are thrown about, yet they are only small light items.  In the center of the weyr is a fair sized rectangular table made of mahogany, four chairs matching the same wood are places around it.  In the far left corner is a cot, no furs are layed on in yet at the foot of the small bed is a trunk and on it a folded up hamock with many bedfurs on it, both light and every.  You look about to see if there was a bathingpool  room yet find that Aretukito is one of the unlucky ones to not have one.
Sawne's mine, click on her if you'd like to get a fire lizard like her though.
Suddenly a green fire lizard pops out of between chittering loudly and bringing back to the boy you were talking with.  She continued to chitter as she landed on Aretukito outstreached arm.

"Sawne," he chidded her right back, "You knew very well that I had a meeting with the Weyrwoman this afternoon... Well it wasn't my fault that the rain decided to fall and lightning started to crash as I was coming across the bowl!  And you didn't have to tear apart the room when you knew well I wasn't in here."
You clear your throat and Aretukito suddenly remembers you're standing there and grins sheepishly.

"Speaking of Thunderstorms," you smile, "There was no watch wher out there. I'd just come from there before ya' bowled me over. Aside from that the watch wher is on the opposite side of the weyr," Aretukito looks down at his feet as you say this, "You're afraid of lightning aren't you?"

Aretukito looks up at you in slight outrage, "I'm not afraid of lightning, I think lightning is really cool to watch... the thunder just startles me when it's that close." he finsihes laimly.  The only thing that keeps you from chuckling is the fact that now your newest aquantest feels bad.

"So about that limp," you ask gentley changing the subject.  He looks at you for a moment a bit hurt but deffiant about telling you anything about it.  In the end the corners of his mouth turn up in a seemingly mornful smile.

"Well, I've had that limp my whole life." he said and stood up straight for you finally and points down; to your surprise his right foot is off the floor yet both his legs are compleatly straight and his left foot is flat on the floor, "I was born with my right leg being about half a hand span shorter than my left, that's why I limp about.  I'm told when I run you can't notice it much though."  At that moment, Sawne trilled in his ear and looked at you with some warriness, "Oh, sorry, Sawne.  This is Recarta, she's a human runner.  Recarta, this is my fire lizard Sawne."  You give a polite nod to the green on Aretukito's should and she surprisingly makes a showy bow to you.

"Do you mind if I question you a bit, being your wanting to be a candidate and all?" you ask the light brown eyed boy as you remember him saying he wanted to be a candidate at Artaq Weyr.

"Not at all, but let's sit. I may be fit enough to run but standing around on two good legs, one that's shorter than the other is more tiring than it looks," he grins and indocates the chairs by his table.  He politely pulls out the chair for you to sit down and then sits down himself with his Sawne uttering a daft chirp, "Question away."

You think for a moment then start....
