![]() ![]() Why is the sky that blue green color, A'kito? Is it some sort of dragon's eye looking down on us? I don't know why it's that color, Yuuth. But I do know it's not a dragon's eye. How do you know? Because dragonriders went beyond that blue sky and into the stars once to try to destroy thread at the source... too bad it didn't work eh? Had it worked we would not be preparing for it. A'kito chuckled at his lifemate. It had been very interesting since that day only a few months back when Yuuth was the third to hatch from Artaq Weyr's first clutch. The large mahogany brown dragon had waited till his blue brother had impressed before walking over to the male candidates and for a time only looked at each boy. In the end, he focused, and stayed focused, on A'kito, formaly Aretukito. When do we get to chew firestones, A'kito? After the Weyrling Master allows us to test your wings and we fly, I guess. Then when do we fly, rider mine? A'kito shurged, Yuuth sure was talkative today. He rubbed the dragon's large forearm next to him. "A'kito?" the Weyrling Master suddenly questioned. "Huh?" the young boy looked surprised and glanced at his dragon for the question he'd been asked. The Weyrling Master shook his head as time past in silence, the brown not having heard the question either. "I suggest the two of you quit day dreaming durring my lectures," he chuckled, "And don't any of you other weyrlings laugh, I know this is a boaring lecture this early in training..." "So why not change it about so it's a bit more interesting?" one of A'kito's weyrlingmates suggested causing the class to giggle a bit. "Because I'm not a harper, bluerider," he replied to the girl. A'kito chuckled and suddenly found the Weyrling Master only a hand span from his face, "Now, A'kito, brown Yuuth's rider, will you answer the question?" "If you'd repeat it, sir," he replied a bit sheepishly. "Better answer, brownrider," the Master replied, "Aproximently how much time does it take for Thread to pass over one spot about the size of your hand?" A'kito racked his brain, he knew the answer was in there behind his own light brown eyes... but what was it again. He blinked sharply as the answer came to him. "About 10-15 minute, sir." "Very good," replied the Weyrling Master, "And how long does a fall last usualy.... S'kelle?" A'kito sighed happy that the questioning had gone onto another rider. The lecture is getting interesting again Yuuth commented with a smile. Well, thread is an important part of the weyrling training that we should listen to no matter what... I bet it was dull for the first riders... or more likely scary. I doubt their dragons were scared though. I wouldn't doubt that for a minute, espcialy from you, Yuuth. An hour passed before the Weyrling Master let his students go back to their regular daily work durring this stage in a dragon's life. A'kito walked by feeling sorry for the weyrling who was cleaning the barracks that day. It seemed a lot of the dragons had felt the need to releive themselves. Let's go clean you up, Yuuth. Then we'll oil you down again. That sounds good. I feel itchy all over right now. Feeling sorry for his brown, the young boy hobbled beside his dragon rubbing at dry spots. His right leg was starting to ache again as they reached their weyr, yet he ignored it. Changing his clothes to those he wore when he swam, A'kito grabbed the dragon oil and walked back to his brown limping heavely. You should ride on me, my rider. The lake is not far and I'm already strong enough to do so. "Don't worry, Yuuth, a little sting in my shorter leg won't harm m......" A'kito colapsed on his feet; had his brown not been around his knees would have hit the ground along with other parts of his body. Get on, A'kito, it will be much safer for you and I won't have to worry as much this way. Thanks, Love, he replied mounting his large brown. The mahogany colored dragon walked carefuly towards the Weyrlake and warbled at the other dragons they found there. Instead of stopping at the water's edge, Yuuth walked all the way in until his rider's legs were dipped in the water up to the knee. Sawne chitered as she watched the whole events finally settling on top of Yuuth's head. Do you really have to sit on my head, Sawne?... Well I guess when you put it that way. the brown finished when the green started to scrub his head. A'kito worked diligently on the wings of his great lifemate and smiled as Yuuth turned his green and blue whirling eyes upon him. "Ya' know somethin', Yuuth," the brownrider smiled at his dragon, "I think I finaly know what that pod leader had ment half a turn back."
