Entry 1:

Rayvan chittered as he swooped around the heads of R'mar and his brown Unipoeth. The pair were looking at the flight board intently. They'd been fixed there for the past three minutes and R'mar was grinning foolishly.

"She's on the board isn't she, Poe?" he asked his brown eagerly. The brown rumbled happily, "Is it gold Lelianth?"

She is beautiful is she not, R'mar? And I believe you fancy her rider. Unipoeth cooed causing his rider to blush.

"If you mean, when I see her I always seem to get a huge klutz attack and either end up with my face on the floor or a pain some where between by knees and shoulders," the brownrider poked fun at himself and smiled, "Yeah, Adrienne pretty nice. And her Lelianth is much nicer to you than Mekoth is, at least she doesn't give you a back handed complement." Yes but then that's Mekoth for you. You know Mekoth can be very nice... when she's not proddy, least that what the bronzes Rezoth and Avinoth tell me. R'mar chuckled, he knew the trouble the browns and bronzes were having with Mekoth, and Chir was starting to turn proddy with her dragon.

"So I'll sign you up for Lelianth's flight," the brownrider smiled as he wrote a note to M'leor bronze Urionth's rider, already knowing that the bronze rider was nowhere near by. Giving a soft whistle Rayvan quite chittering and landed on his shoulder. "Take this," R'mar said tying the note to the small fire lizard's leg, "to M'leor." He gave the bronze splotched grayish flit a mental picture of the rider and then sent him off. The oddly colored fire-lizard trilled as he streaked down a hallway in search of the rider.

"Come on, Poe," R'mar smiled, "We best get to work on our speed and agility if you're to fly that gold." The brown grunted in agreement and they walked out of the room. As they entered the sun filled weyrbowl both looked up at the clear day. That was when they spotted the golden flash in the sky. Lelianth! the brown whispered in awe. Both dragon and rider craned their necks to watch the gold go overhead. Unfortunately both forgot about their balance as she flew directly over and they fell on their backs.

R'mar, forgetting about the gold now worried about his brown and rushed to check his wings. I am fine, R'mar, so are my wings... I will catch her. The last comment was more in determination to himself than his rider. The two walked over to the middle of the bowl. Get on R'mar. You may not be much extra weight but if you're on and I'm very speeding then I'll be even faster when I fly with you off of me.

"For a dragon who just turned two turns last month and has only seen mating flights you seem to know what you're talking about," the 21 turn old rider commented as he mounted up. You can learn a lot from watching, even our little cousins; the fire lizards can teach us a thing or two. Trusting his dragon, they shot straight up into the air at a blistering speed. With a flick of his tail Unipoeth was headed towards the sky at an almost 45 degree angle. He snapped his wings sharply putting on another burst of speed as he finally started to fly horizontally. I'm going to take us higher, R'mar. Hang on!

No sooner had the dragon finished his statement than they shot up towards the blue sky, a thermal helping them out even more. Did you know that thermal was coming? The brown merely nodded mentally to his rider as he concentrated on getting higher at a quick rate. Reaching the height he wanted, Unipoeth spread his wings fully and glided on a fast wind current. I'm going to try a dive. R'mar's breath was taken away as the brown closed his wings and dived down at dizzying speeds. A few dragon lengths above the ground he opened his wings and skimmed the ground at his quick rate. The brown quickly rose again and started to sprint towards the sea in the distance.

Faster than R'mar thought possible, without going between, the dragon had reached the shores and turned on a wing tip. Easy, Poe, remember I'm up here! Do not worry, R'mar, I won't drop you. If I did I'd catch you faster than I'd catch Lelianth. With that confidence the rider held onto the ridge in front of him so he didn't feel like he was being pulled out of his seat. Unipoeth made it back to Talor Cliff Weyr in less time than it seemed to have taken him to get to the sea. With a crow of satisfaction the dragon slowed his speed and landed back in the bowl. That was fun!

"Yeah, as long as you're in control of it," R'mar said dizzily, "Hope it doesn't feel like that when you join in the flight... though it was very interesting and exciting!" The brown nodded before deciding he was hungry and went after a large buck in the herdbeasts. R'mar on the other hand went to the weyr lake to wash up and skip stones thinking about Adrienne and her gold Lelianth as well as his day as a weyrling and when he was searched... and of course, the flight ahead. He dearly hopped that his brown Unipoeth might catch the gold, not because they'd then be the first brown to catch a gold on record but because he truly did like the rider of the gold.

Entry 2:

R'mar sighed, as he looked at the flight boards again. Lelianth had been flown months earlier and R'mar hadn't had the chance nor the heart to sign up his brown Unipoeth in another flight. They'd been so close when Lelianth flew, he'd been one of the last in the air yet at the last moment a bronze made a grab for the glowing gold. Well, it was for the better, there might not have been a gold or white in the clutch had Unipoeth won the flight, but then nobody was really sure. Even after Mekoth's flight there was still no brown to fly a gold. According to the charts another gold was to fly after Mekoth but then white Oroth rose to mate before the gold. R'mar would have entered Unipoeth into that flight because of his fairly close relationship with the whiterider yet in the end found that his love for Kare was more that of a big brother.

As R'mar looked at the board he found the next two flights close, the first one because she was so close and the second one because she had just as many suitors as Oroth had, a few of which were from Oroth's flight. Guess they didn't feel too bad after losing the flight, the brownrider thought to himself. As he looked to the next to fly he took a sharp breath. Tiff Prisim's green Vasharath was to fly soon after the others. Over the turns that he'd been living at Talor Cliff Weyr he'd meet Tiff through Kare, the young woman was amazing! She had been a harper, like himself, before impression and still kept up her singing. Though her musical tones were of the lower scale they were still rich and beautiful, there had been quite a few times that he'd played an instrument along with her voice.

I agree with you, R'mar, the brownrider suddenly heard his dragon comment to him, her green Vasharath has just a beautiful a voice and is much kinder to me than any gold has ever been. You should enter us. R'mar bit his lip, he knew very well he liked Tiff enough to go after the 20 turn old woman, but what if they lost... what would become of their friendship?... what would become of it if they won? Would she hate him just because he entered Unipoeth into Vasharath's flight? He could sign Unipoeth up right now and walk away without being seem... But there was no doubt Tiff would be checking the boards to see who would come after her green. The brownrider sighed.

Upon R'mar's shoulder, his piebald fire lizard, Rayvan, chirped a bit confused at his master's thoughts. R'mar smiled nervously and patted the bronze/grayish fire lizard to calm himself and the flit. After a while the 21 turn old young man smiled as an idea formed in his mind. Pulling out a hide note pad that he'd come to carry on himself almost all the time, he quickly scrolled down a message and attached it to Rayvan's forearm as he'd done some months ago before Lelianth's flight. He wrote roughly the same message as before but with one add on.

Please do not put me up until it is decided to close Vasharath's flight to all other dragons. Would like to keep friendship as long as possible. -R'mar, brown Unipoeth's rider

With that the rider gave his flit a quick image of the bronzerider and tossed him towards the door. With a squawk, Rayvan unfurled his wings and glided around the corner. R'mar gave a sigh of relief and smiled at his good idea.

"R'mar?" a voice coupled with the touch of a hand on his shoulder startled the platinum haired young man. Whipping around quickly he almost feel over as he found a pair of Bitra like eyes looking at him curiously. Around the brown eyes was an Istan skin colored face topped off by red Ruathan hair.

"Tiff?" R'mar sputtered wondering how long the slightly younger woman had been standing behind him, "What are you doing here?" Tiff smiled and rubbed one of her temples as her eyes unfocused, conversing with a dragon, most likely Vasharath. She smiled after a moment.

"Vash wanted me to check the boards again," the tall greenrider smiled, "I think she wants to know how many more males does she have to have on the board to match Oroth's flight of suitors. I also think she unconsciously wants to know how much she's beating out Mekoth in how many she has flying her. Chir says that she had to go through the same with Mekoth nearly three or more times a day; morning, noon, and night." Both of them laughed at this, R'mar a bit nervously. In the back of his mind he was hopping that Rayvan didn't come back anytime soon. He knew that if there was a reply note, Tiff would see it and ask what it was about, he didn't want to have to explain that to her.

Rayvan's found M'leor, can I tell Vasharath that I will be in her flight now so Tiff doesn't have to go through the troubles of doing so? No, Tiff isn't to know until M'leor finally puts us up. Keep quiet and don't tell Vasharath until that time comes. Both dragon and rider were silent for a time. Tiff didn't even seem to notice the conversation that had taken place; instead she'd been looking at the chart like she'd said she was going to do.

Tiff finally straightened from looking over the list of names. To R'mar the way she did so was in such a seemingly slow sultry manner that he had to swallow hard, his coal-blue eyes watching her every move. Tiff flipped her hair over her shoulder with a turn of her head and walked over to the brownrider. R'mar could see quite a change in the woman's demeanor. She was now flirtatious to say the least and it was obviously because of her green.

"That makes six," she seemed to drawl out in a husky way, "one brown and five blues." R'mar gulped again at Tiff seemed to get closer though she'd only taken one step. "You planning on signing your brown up for another flight finally?" she asked as if challenging him.

"Poe and I are thinking about it," R'mar replied in a half lie, clearing his throat to try and calm his nerves, "I don't think we'll sign up yet though." A soft seductive smirk crossed the Bitran eyed greenrider and she chuckled as she started to leave.

"Good luck to you and your Po when you figure out who he'll try for," she smiled and with a light tap of her hand, she brushed the few strands of large beads back over the young man's shoulder. R'mar suppressed his body from shuttering at the close seemingly intimate contact. He turned to watch Tiff walk towards her waiting green, swinging her hips the whole way. She was quick to mount her green and they took off. Moments later, Rayvan returned with a note. He read it and nodded; soon the board would be filled under Vasharath's name and Tiff would know and so now the waiting began.
