You watch as the man, with wild natural white hair and coal blue eyes, you'd lead to Kare's weyr walks out of the whiterider's weyr with a bright smile. He seems nice enough to me, C'fron, you hear your green's voice inside your head, why are you watching him so? You chuckle grimmly at your dragon, Trith, this young man just walked into a female white rider's room about an hour or so ago and comes out with a grin... Not to mention I'm sure he's blushing! Without another word to your dragon you walk up to confront him. When he sees you he smiles even bigger. "Greenrider, thank you for your help earlier," he tells you, "It's been a long time sense I've seen Kare." Your usually fixed smirk is just barely staying on your features as he tells you this, "My I have your name so I might remember you on my future visits?" Your eye twitches slightly, "On three condition, Journyman. You tell me about yourself, how and why you know Kare, and your own name." "If you wish," he tells you a bit baffled and looks about, "So where should we talk." You lead him down some stairs and into the bowl of Talor Cliff Weyr where some dragons, many of them greens and blues, are feeding at the far end of the bowl. With a curt nod you indocate he should start. "Well, my name is Ralamar, I'm a first year Senior Journyman Harper at 19 turns old," he tells you in all seriousness just before he slips on the ground that is still damp from the rain the night before. As you offer him a hand he grunts a thank you and continues, almost as if nothing had happend "I still can't quite understand that. I mean I'm such a dim glow at times, and lately have been having such a clutz streak I'm not sure how I've not borken an insterment, much less my neck." "As for how I met Kare, well that was at the Gather here at Talor Cliff Weyr a short time after white Conquinath had clutched. She's the most wonderful pan flute player I've hear who's not in the harper craft, in fact that's how I cam across her. She was playing her pan flute for a duel perpous it seems, to draw a crowd for her Father's stall and for her own pleasure. After she'd finished I decided that I'd like to talk to her so I knew something about her if I should see her again in another Hold or Weyr. I was acttually right next to her when she was searched," you remembered the Gather, you'd been there with your younger brother who'd just impressed a blue from the latest gold clutch. You also had seen him taking side long glances at Kare, but then that can be expected of any rider. You look a bit shameful though when you realize that all Kare and Ralamar were, were old friends. He looks at you with a slanted sly look, "You thought I was in there doing something more than talking to her didn't you?" You reluctently admit your fault, your smirk coming full on with a slight ting of red running over the bridge of your nose. Ralamar chuckles, "Look, even I know Kare's cute, espicaly when she's happy, but even I know not to even put on a slight bit of a sign of interest to a newly impressed dragonrider. There's a posiblity that if I do that her white Oroth might never mate, and I'd rather have the bueatiful white clutch than become uncounusly starral because I made advances towards her lifemate long before she was mature." You chuckle, "Sorry, Harper, I just get paranoid at times, mainly when it comes to female dragons and their riders." "That's understandable," he tells you, "I might as well compleat the last part of the bargen, you wanted to know about me dirrectly." You nod and he continues, "Well, I was brought up in Harper Hall so I got my starts early. My parents were only Journy Harpers, they never made it to be masters but have always been happy to be at such stations. I apprenticed as a harper as soon as I could and was a bit slow to walk the tables, most likely because then I was a real clutz, causing mayhem at least once a day. The thing is that all my supiriors thought I was playin' pranks! At about 15 they finally let me walk the tables and sent me off to my first job in one of the large sized not well known holds. Though they were small, they were large enough to hold a small part of both the glass craft and starsmith craft. I learned enough from the Masters of those crafts that I'm able to make my own distance viewer." here he pulled out a small cilinder and then pulled on one end making it longer, "See." As you take it and look through it you smile, "It's fairly well made for a person not in the craft, I'm surprised you didn't damage it in your fall earlier." "Same goes for me," he replied and looked through it at the dragons feeding, he starts to go compleatly off subject and you guess that his life story is mainly at an end "Dragons are very bueatiful, are they not? I've always admired them. Acttualy came here for a duel perpous, to see Kare and check in on the 32 eggs laid by the Sr. Queen herself Naomith." "Well, Naomith's the brewdiest gold I've ever seen so you won't get close enough to get a real look at them," you reply and your smirk deepens as you feel like a child again and up to mischief, "But I beleive I can get you to an area where we can use your distance viewer to see them quite clearly." Ralamar flips back four or five strands of beads with his thumb. You'd not noticed them before because they were hidden under some of his wild white hair at the base of his neck. The young Harper smiles at you, "Lead the way...," he trails off because you still have not told him your name. "C'fron, green Trith's rider," you reply with a boyish grin and motion him to follow, "Com' on." You lead him towards the hatching grounds but then vear off slightly so that the doorway and eggs can be seen but the golden mother would not really notice you, even if she wasn't asleep. "You get the honors, C'fron my friend," he smiles at you and hands you the distance viewer. He suddenly pulls out another, not as well constructed at the one you now had but well enough. You both look through one each. Both of you can tell the eggs look hard enough to hatch in a week or so. Suddenly your veiw is blurred by something in your path. "You two men looking for something," a feminiam voice asked, "Or just peepin' on somebody?" Both you a Ralamar look up sheepishly to find Nora standing before you, her blue Mitanth stand just behind her. "Don't be so harsh, Nora," another voice from behind you say jokingly, "They're only havin' a look at Naomith's clutch the only way posible without out Senior Queen going balistic on them. Besides C'fron's helped us alot by keepin' the Harper here." You turn to see that it's Beka on her green Reth. "What do you mean?" Ralamar askes "Is there something I did...?" Nora cut him off as realization dawns on you as you see the dragons have taken a high interest in the Senior Journyman Harper beside you, "Of course ya' did somethin', Harper. Give us your name and I'll tell ya' what it is." "Ralamar, Nora," he tells her. "Hey, you're the guy who was with Kare when we searched her weren't you?" Beka comments and Ralamar nods. "You're right," Nora comments after a moment, "Guess that's why our dragons took a liking to him then too because they'd search him later." "I've been searched?" Ralamar asks and the two searchriders nod. The Harper looks back at you proud as a dragon mother who just laid her first clutch. "Congradulations Harper, I hope you impress, and impress well," you tell him with your usuall smirk. "I hope so too," Ralamar replies before he follows the two searchriders to the canidates barracks to look for a room for him. You smile not really being able to wait till the new clutch hatches, and hoping that your new friend impresses. |
