![]() “If you’re Eyotath seems to think he can direct so well why doesn’t he show the group how to flame?” the Weyrling Master asked ticking his tongue on the roof of his mouth. Fine! We’ll show them the proper way to go into flight and sear Thread from the skies! the green sized brown replied shaking his head in slight annoyance. “Uh, yes sir, just let me get him tacked up,” Roki replied eyeing her darkly shaded brown. Eyotath seemed to miss this though as he pranced about in a manner that resembled some bronzes and lowered his body to be tacked up for flight. I could do it on my own you know?I know, Sugar, but you’d never go fight in a fall without me. Who would feed you firestones? You have a point there, love. the brown replied as he held completely still while Roki tacked him. With a few more straps tightly pulled and safely tied way themselves, Roki climbed onto Eyotath’s strong neck with the aid of his forearm. With a glance from the Weyrling Master, Roki nodded and gave the hand signal to rise into the air. Small though the brown was, with three powerful downward strokes the brown was in the air, Roki quickly feed her fine friend firestones and had barely finished when the Weyrling Master called for the riders who were dropping the “Thread spores” to start dropping once again. Roki quickly pulled her goggles over her eyes and so the Threadfall training began for them anew. Roki warned Eyotath of Thread that was close to hitting him while he flew and flamed. To the rider’s surprise he was doing it without getting hit and flamed every one of them. It was near the end when the last hand full of “Thread” was thrown down and split in a few directions. Eyotath dove for the lower bout and in turn the thread landed on Roki’s slim shoulders. With in seconds Eyotath was in between and out again near the other end of the Bowl. Shard it, got a bit lazy there in the end… Sorry, Roki. Don’t worry, sugar, you at least did what the other Weyrlings should have done, and betweened it to safety to save me from being scored more than I could have been. The brown rumbled and glided carefully back to the class. As they neared there was a rumble of both amusement and discussion from the other riders. The Weyrling Master however looked annoyed… yet there was something else in his features a well. “Roki, I want you and that brown of yours down here right now!” He growled up at them. The brown swiftly dropped to the ground. Roki looked over at her sister who watched her with a blank look, for once in a long time truly sober without acting drunk. K’ten had helped her with that some how. Tokin had mentioned something about a pep talk and that was that. Either way she was glade she didn’t have to deal with a drunk-like sister in the mornings or when she had no alcohol in her system anymore. She looked to K’ten then, the young man looked half asleep. It wasn’t really a surprise, his Takeoth had been hyper active the night before and hadn’t let him sleep much and the blue was still brimming with energy. Roki averted her eyes towards the sky to keep from chuckling and watched as a few dragons started to make ready to land. “You all are dismissed to your chores for the next two hours,” he stated and the riders started to leave, “Tokin, K’ten, and Roki you’re to stay here.” Roki winced, she’d gotten her friends in trouble and she knew it. As soon as the other dragonriders were out of earshot the Weyrling Master spoke again. “K’ten, pick up that bag of ‘Thread’ and have Takeoth fly up to the drop point. Tokin get yourself and Chosposith ready to fight the Thread.” he then looked to Roki, “I want you to try and instruct them in what they are doing wrong and how they might correct their flaws. You too Eyotath.” Both dragon and rider blinked, this wasn’t a usual thing for them yet some how felt right. Roki and her brown were quick to pick out problems in the flight of both dragons. With a little help and a bit of imagination on the bonded pair’s part they instructed both the blue and the lilac riders how to correct themselves. “That was pretty good,” a voice came from behind the practicing riders. A large blue, the size of a small bronze, took up most of the riders’ vision as they found a man of about 6’1” leaning up against the lightly colored giant. The rider nodded to the Weyrling Master, “May I have a word with you?” The blue and lilac landed as the elder riders walked off a distance to talk. “Who’s that?” Roki asked the question that was on all of their minds. His dragon says that he is Camoth and his rider Ar’win. They are from Seiryuu Weyr… as I remember there isn’t a Seiryuu Weyr. Eyotath told his rider as he looked at the blue who if he’d stood beside him would have been a good sixth of a dragon’s length taller than him. Over by the large blue the man called Ar’win laughed and it was obvious that he was taking a glance over at them. The Weyrling Master shook his head at the blue rider but waved his hand towards the Sr. Weyrlings who watched them and Ar’win nodded his thank. The blue rider proceeded to walk towards the trio and smiled. “Good after noon, friends,” Ar’win smiled, “My name’s Ar’win, and that big blue lug over there is my dragon, Camoth, we’re located at Talor Cliff Weyr right now but in a turn we’ll be at a new Weyr to be open right around the end of fall and beginning of winter, Seiryuu Weyr. Having fun with your Weyrling Training?” Roki was startled by his questioning of them, if the others weren’t, and gave a nod with a shrug causing the young man to chuckle. “Weyrling Training was no picnic for me either. Now let’s see if I got this right, you’re K’ten,” he pointed to the young man, “You’re Tokin,” Roki’s sister nodded, “And that leaves you to be Roki.” “That’s right, blue rider,” Roki nodded taking the position of spokesperson for the group, “No offence but is there something you want of us?” Ar’wen smiled at the female brown rider. “I’m actually searching for Seiryuu Weyr,” he chuckled, “We’re in need of riders…” he trailed off and carefully lead Roki away from her friends, “We’re also looking for a Weyrling Master to train the riders to come from our Weyr. And well, Camoth and I are in agreement… you look to be one who could handle the job.” “But I’m only a Sr. Weyrling right now!” Roki shouted in surprise at the blue rider, she quickly brought her voice back down to a more secretive level, “I’m flattered, Ar’wen, but I’m not sure I’m ready.” Ar’wen looked at her with a somehow serious smirk. “That’s what I was talking with your Weyrling Master about,” he replied seductively, “he’s already agreed that you were quite the leader, he was going to start your training for leadership. If you wish it he’ll train you to be a Weyrling Master… And Seiryuu will pick you up right after your training.” Roki looked at the ground unsure. It sounds like fun, Eyotath’s voice echoed in her head, I think I could do it. I know you could do it too! You’ve taught students long before I was hatched, why couldn’t you do it now? We’re talking about people’s lives here, Eyotath! If I taught them wrong they might die during a fall or worse yet trying to between! It’s not so different from you defensive training, that was to save lives as well. We should do it. If we weren’t to do so you might blame yourself if the weyrlings that come from Seiryuu Weyr die off easily. Roki shivered at the thought. Be a Weyrling Master nearly straight out of being a Weyrling herself. “We don’t have anybody as skilled as you are already, and most have been riders for at least seven turns,” Ar’wen sighed. Roki looked up, that was a sad thing to hear. She looked over towards her sister and her friend, they both looked over at her curiously as did their dragons. She looked back at Ar’wen and sighed. “I’ll do it, but are you sure I’ll be out of training myself by the time I’m done with my own training?” she asked. “Seiryuu Weyr won’t be ready for residents until a little over a turn from now,” Ar’wen replied his humor slowly fading from his features though his eyes showed his smile, “You’ll be more than ready. Now about your friends…” he waved the two riders over. In the end the trio agreed to being drafted for Seiryuu Weyr’s riders. With a good bye to the blue rider they were assured that they would get word of the Weyr again soon and meet some of the other riders as well. No sooner had the huge blue Camoth disappeared in the sky the Weyrling Master was once again with them. “K’ten, Tokin, you’re excused,” he told them, “Roki, you’re with me. We’ve got Jr. Weyrlings to teach now.” Roki nodded, and smiled at her sister and K’ten who looked at her oddly. “Weyrling Master training,” she answered with a humble shrugged. The two riders blinked hard at her but she was gone before the shock of being told of her new training. And so started the training of the Weyrling Master of Seiryuu Weyr.
