Search Story Hides
Tiff Prisim sat idially on the ledge of her weyr which was ment for a dragon.  She was sitting there with her sister, Quachir, doing one of the things in the world that she didn't have much talent for: Sewing.  She'd gotten much better since her arrive at Talor Cliff Weyr over a turn ago now.  Yet Chir, as her sister prefeared to be called, surpassed her, even though she was only 12 turns old compaired to Tiff's 18, in skill having made a few dresses and such garments while Tiff was still only managing to be able to sew new riding harnices and straps for riders in the Weyr who had no skill at all.  One of them being her brother, X'tro bronze Rezoth's rider, though he tried hard to hide it from the female riders of the weyr.

They watched the skies at some points.  It was a clear day with many  fire lizard flying around the Weyr, nothing out of the ordinary.  Suddenly a two fire lizards appeared chittering loudly from between, a golden queen and a light green flit.  Each landed on their respective owner's shoulder.  Seconds later four others appeared, all males, two browns and two blues.

"What in the world?" Tiff frowned as her little gold, projected an image of a glowing gold color, "Ya' got too much of a close up, Modem, I can only see bright gold."

"Xiptra's giving me the same image," Chir commented, "and Taka and Jester are to excited to give me more than what she's given me."

"Same here," her half sister replied.

She's glowing Chir heard Rezoth commenting to nobody in particular

"Who is Rez?" she asks out loud ignoring her sisters look at finally finding that Chir could hear dragons.

Soranth is glowing.  She will fly soon, she will fly today!  But they tell me I'm too young to fly her Rezoth replies energenicly yet the ending he seems to be mentally frowning.

Chir turned to her sister who had seemed to regain her composure, "Rezoth says Soranth will fly soon, acttualy he thinks she'll fly today!"

Tiff smirked a smirk that reminded Chir of the girl's dead mother.  X'tro had that same smirk come to him many times before and so she knew it well from both.

"Let's skip out on work," Tiff said and before her sister could say anything in reply, she grabbed Chir's arm and half dragged her towards her weyr's door and out it, "we'll want the best seat for the flight!"

The two girls dashed through the corridors of the weyr and almost ran Nora, blue Mitanth's rider, over.

"Whoa, whoa.  Hold your runnerbeasts girls.  What's all the racin' around the Weyr for, like Thead's fallin' on your heads?" Nora asked jokingly.

"Our fire lizards were giving us images of glowing gold and Rezoth says that Soranth's going to fly soon, he says today!" Tiff told her.

"Rezoth talked to you?" Nora asked the Journywoman Harper.

"No, he was talking to nobody inparticular, more to himself, but I over heard him," Chir replied, "well, we're going to go get a good seat.  See ya' at dinner!"

Neither girl waited for an answer as they dashed off for the stairs to the Weyr Bowl.  They arrived just as some of the queens and thier riders were going between.  It seemed to both girls that all the greens had already left.  That was a change, usually the greens would wait till the queens told them to leave.  Both girls pushed their minds away from this as their eyes were fixed on the brightly glowing golden queen in front of them

Bronzes and browns were starting to appear as did Alliana, Soranth's rider.  Tiff wasn't sure but she thought she saw a light shade of pink cross the face of the rider as if embarrassed.  She's quickly pulled away from that thought as the queen roars out her challenge to the males.  Both girls visable jumped as the queen quickly took off only to slam back into the ground at the same time as catching a herdbeast in her claws.  Chir heard the resentment as the dragon was undoubtably told to only blood the beast.

A hand, softly was placed on the shoulder of Chir.  She quickly looked over her shoulder and found herself looking at the middle of a young man's chest.  She had to look up to see that it was X'tro.  His eyes were a cloudy blue, steadly turning to a bright deep blue.  He smiled at her and then looked back at the gold and her suiters.  Chir looked at him for a few moments longer.  She hadn't noticed before but he was quite the hansome young man.  The twelve turn old girl mentaly shook herself, how could she say that even if she wasn't related to him dirrectly through blood she thought of him as a brother... and what would Tiff Prisim think about her half sister falling for her half brother.

Chir shook it off and quickly looked back to the dragons.  Tiff had been watching, she'd seen that look her brother had and was sure it was brought on by the fact that his dragon was an adult yet wasn't aloud to fly the queen.  Tiff mussed about them falling for each other, after all her life was weird enough as is.  What would another oddity of her half sister and half brother some how becoming an item be compared to it?  She chuckled thinking again that it probably wouldn't happen.  The last time she'd checked the flight board X'tro's Rezoth was to try and fly his queen sister later this turn.

The snort from the queen was low but when the brassy roar came forth once again all three covered their ears, and out of reflex shut their eyes.  Chir ducked down at the same time because like Soranth's rider, Alliana, she could hear the loud yet brassy voice in her head.  As they looked up the queen had taken to the air and the browns and bronzes that wished to catch her shot up, they weren't fair behind.  Their breath cought in their throat as they saw her stop and not notice the suiters come close to catching her.  Then at the last second she spotted them and dived.  The flight was long and exciting and in the end bronze Urionth caught the queen.

X'tro was back to himself in a flash as the moment the two dragons started to dive towards the ground for the first time.  His Bitra eyes flashed as he pulled out a wher hide and charcoal.

"OK, I'm takin' bets on the next clutch, who'll be first?" the bronze rider called out and riders of all ages, but mainly younger ones, came over and X'tro quickly started writing down the bets.

Chir, like usual, watched the pair until they came to land once more.  It had been a long one this time, not like the last flight she'd made a bet at, in fact it was her first bet.  She walked over to X'tro who was adding up bets with the help of his Harper half sister.

"I'll bet...," she started but was intorupted by the bronze rider.

"Sorry, Chir, but I don't take bets from you, not since your first bet," X'tro smirked rogishly, "You bet to high and I lost 44 marks to you on only six eggs!"

The young aprentice weyrhealer frowned yet laught as the three of them walked back towards the stairs, "You still owe me those mark, X'tro!"

Some one clearing their throat caused the three to stop and look who it was.  A blue and a green dragon sat calmly by with Nora and Beka leaning on thier respective dragon's shoulders.  Nora looked a bit smug while Beka looked to her.

"Go ahead, have Reth look her over," Nora smiled.

The two girls blinked, just bearly noticing Beka's eyes unfocus as she give the command to her dragon.

The little one, right Beka? Chir heard the dragon ask her rider and she couldn't help but look at the dragon and speak her mind.

"You want to check me, Reth?" she asked and both dragon and rider looked a bit baffled.

"You can hear her?" Beka said half truely wondering and half distracting Chir as her dragon inspected her fully.  Chir nodded simply "I've been able to hear dragons almost since the first day I arrived in the Weyr."  She smiled at Reth as she breathed a soft yet very warm breath of air through her nostials at Chir.

You are one! Reth said proudly, and yet the green searchdragon commented and started sniffing Tiff Prisim, And yet this one also smells like one, am I right, Mitanth?

The blue dragon walked over startling both riders and Tiff.  He sniffed her deeply, as he sniffed again his eyes whirled faster a mixture of green with blue flecks.  You're right, Reth, she does smell like one.  Nora this one's good for the new clutch as well!

Chir grinned brightly at her sister and a slow smile came to the head searchrider's features, "I take it you heard every word, Chir?" the girl nodded, "Then why don't you be the messenger?"

Chir turned to Tiff whom had an unbelieving look about her.  Chir smiled and a weak smile started to form on the Harper's face.

"Sis, we've just been searched!"

X'tro whoapped and put an arm around each of the new canidates, Chir on his right, Tiff on his left, "Now this is what I'm talkin' about, we'll be a close family of dragon riders together!"

Both Tiff and Chir glared at him as his usual knowing smirk appeared on his hansome features.

"Don't even think about putting out bets on what we may impress or if we even impress at all, Bro," Tiff growled at her younger half brother.

"That goes double for me," Chir said, "You even think about it I'll have you pay me twice the marks you owe me on geen Rasonith's last clutch!"

X'tro made a funny face.

"You owe me 88 marks now, X'tro bronze Rezoth's rider!" Chir yelled out.  X'tro winced visably and Chir smirked.  She heard Rezoth chuckle from his sunning spot, high up on the fire heights of the Weyr.

You asked for it, X'tro, the big bronze told his rider with a dry sense of humar, never under estimate her or you'll have less marks than you started out with.
