Juve ready to go top

By making the most of Lazio's
set back at Venezia, Juventus could go clear at the top of Serie A. The
main obstacle to Juve achieving this aim will be a battling Verona team,
who will arrive at the Delle Alpi with confidence high after a three match
unbeaten run in the league. Carlo Ancelotti is calling on his players to
be totally focused on the match at hand and not fall prey to the so-called
smaller clubs as Juve have already done on occasion this season. The Juve
coach should only make two changes to an otherwise unchanged side with
Gianluca Zambrotta coming in for his namesake Gianluca Pessotto and Igor
Tudor replacing Paolo Montero who since returning from Uruguay has only
managed two training sessions.
La Repubblica today reports
two interesting facts on Juventus stars, Alessandro Del Piero and Edgar
Davids. The first of which was unearthed by Maurizio Crosetti during an
interview with Del Piero about his studies at the University of Urbino,
where he has embarked on a four-year course (22 exams) in Sociology. Del
Piero who attends courses two or three times per week explains: "It's about
issues relevant to society and the times we live in. And something that
can help a sportsman approach life after sport without feeling like an
alien or worse." Michael Zebboudj, the course administrator remarked: "He
is a model student. Here there is nowhere to hide as every three lessons
there is a test. Del Piero had already studied English with us and then
decided to try for a degree. We are sure he will succeed in his endeavours.
He joins in student activities and attends student functions and parties.
He is a nice guy."

The other interesting fact
reported by La Repubblica concerns Edgar Davids. "Super fast birth by Davids'
partner. Back at home eight hours later," ran the headline. The story continued:
"The baby named Gyatso, which weighed in at just over three kilos caused
a bit of a stir on 29 December at the Sant'Anna hospital, when its twenty-two
year old mother Sarah Hagens checked herself out of hospital only eight
hours after giving birth..."
