Is the glass half full or
half empty? Carlo Ancelotti and Alessandro Del Piero revealed two opposing
views of a match which saw a great Juve performance, but a result which
will have pleased non of the Bianconeri. The coach started by praising
his side: “We played well, but were not rewarded for it. This was an excellent
performance. Thanks to our impressive work rate and the movement of the
front three, we were able to hold the match in the palm of our hands. Crespo
did well to get the equaliser, taking advantage of a momentary drop in
our concentration.”
Del Piero, on the other hand,
was less upbeat. “The excellent performance cannot take away our bitterness
at the resulting draw. Now we’ll have to deal with this psychological blow
as best we can. It all came from us not taking our chances in front of
goal and from the odd unforced error.” Del Piero continued, “We showed
a lot of determination from the opening whistle. But when you play well
you should make sure you get the points. We had some great chances but
we failed to take them. We strikers need to be more clinical.”
The young Italy and Juventus
striker's parents, along with Carlo Ancelotti, were the guests on the popular
football TV show Quelli che il Calcio. Ancelotti was keen to reiterate
another fine Del Piero performance. “He played well as usual. He wants
to do more but I think he’s doing well as he is.” Ancelotti summarised
the match thus:“We have gifted Parma a point and thrown two of our own
away.”
