Alessandro Del Piero is the
focus the Gazzetta dello Sport’s coverage, following the Bianconeri’s exit
from the Coppa Italia at the hands of Lazio. "Del Piero Hits Scoring Form"
runs the headline in the Milanese daily. "I was overjoyed," the number
10 admits. "Sometimes things just fall into place." The player goes on
to say that there is no point in dwelling on the defeat which saw Juventus
drop out of the Coppa Italia. Coach Carlo Ancelotti is already focusing
on Sunday's fixture: "We are playing well at the moment, but are still
being surprised by the feisty smaller clubs."
Del Piero receives full coverage
in Tuttosport as well, where he hits out at claims that he was only on
the pitch as a favour. "These kind of rumours annoy me. No-one plays if
he is not up to it. I want to achieve the objectives that we have set ourselves
and that is the only thing I am focusing on."
"Del Piero Is Ready," announces
the Corriere dello Sport. According to the paper, Ancelotti is likely to
field Del Piero in the starting line-up against Cagliari: "I didn't want
to tire him against Lazio," Ancelotti explains. "With Esnaider and Fonseca
both unavailable I started with one striker, but on Sunday I will revert
to the standard formation."
