Juventus' honorary president
Agnelli features heavily in this morning's Tuttosport, where he calls for
an end to the long-running refereeing controversy. "It would be better
if we all called a halt to these irritating complaints. Referees make mistakes
in Italy just as they do abroad."
The Gazzetta dello Sport,
thankfully, has moved on from the referee saga and focuses instead on brothers
Filippo and Simone Inzaghi, both of whom are deeply involved in the title
race, with Juve and Lazio respectively. "It's great that we are doing so
well," Filippo admits. I hope that we are both up there come May, with
Juve just having the edge of course. This is such a close season; if you
make the slightest mistake, you know you're going to be overtaken." Lazio's
Simone adds, "We have been alternating at the top of the table since September.
I hope we can keep it up, although there is fierce competition from Milan
and Roma now too."
The Gazzetta also claims
that Alessandro Del Piero is certain to receive a call-up to the national
squad for the friendly against Sweden later this month. Apparently, one
of Dino Zoff's scouts was impressed by the Bianconeri number 10's performance
against Udinese at the weekend.
Finally, the Corriere dello
Sport points out that Carlo Ancelotti celebrates his first anniversary
with Juventus today - and reminds its readers that it wasn't so long ago
that fans were protesting his arrival...
