Trouble at mill yesterday
at the Comunale, where Juventus coach Carlo Ancelotti and his players spent
over half an hour in the presence of Luciano Moggi, the club's general
manager. Moggi tells Tuttosport: "Our present problems will help unite
us," while one of the recipients of Moggi's dressing-room tirade, midfielder
Zinedine Zidane, was less sanguine: "The Lazio defeat could affect us physically
and mentally," he reveals, " although they have the Cups to worry about
too."
News of the purported rift
between strike pair Alessandro Del Piero and Filippo Inzaghi dominates
today's issue of the Gazzetta dello Sport. Juventus have consistently denied
all such talk, but according to the Milan-based paper, it's time for the
two players to put their differences behind them. "Ale, Pippo. Enough!"
reads the headline.
In today's Corriere dello
Sport, meanwhile, Roberto Bettega sounds the title charge, the vice president
declaring that Juventus have nothing to fear from second-placed Lazio.
"It's far better to be chased than to be part of the chasing pack," reasons
Bettega. The former Juve striker also denies that the Romans have the easier
run-in: "The fixture list is all relative anyway, as they have lost to
teams from the lower echelons of the table before. I am sure we won't throw
the title away."
