All this morning's front
pages are dedicated to Juventus. The Bianconeri have effectively made a
giant step towards Scudetto glory after a masterful display against Inter
at the San Siro. The Gazzetta dello Sport neatly sums up the key ingredients:
"Juve: Kovacevic! Shouts of Scudetto success." The Milan-based daily writes
that Inter were beaten 2-1 thanks to two pearls from the man-of-the-moment.
The first was an exquisite chip over the hapless Peruzzi, the second a
towering header. There are only four games left and Juve, in the space
of one day, have effectively doubled their lead over second-placed Lazio.
Tuttosport's headline is
an emphatic "Juve Triumph!" and all credit goes to the giant Serb as well
as coach Carlo Ancelotti who had the gall to play a very attack-minded
trio of Kovacevic, Del Piero and Inzaghi. The Turin-based daily is clearly
ecstatic at Juve´s great result: "Brilliant Juve, you deserve it,"
declares the paper. Kovacevic, meanwhile, has now scored 20 goals in all
competitions this season - some achievement.
The Corriere dello Sport
pays the Yugoslavian striker the ultimate compliment, with the headline
"Kovacevic's Scudetto." In the Rome-based daily's eyes the Scudetto is
all but sewn up and the final words go to coach Carlo Ancelotti: "It was
a team effort. Kovacevic? Of course, it will be much harder to leave him
out now, but I thought Del Piero also applied himself magnificently." Kovacevic
goes on to thank everybody at the club; no doubt a fair few will be thanking
him for many weeks to come.
