EURO 2000: Italy practice interrupted
by fan invasion

GEEL, Belgium - Italy experienced
its first pitch invasion of Euro 2000 on Friday when three fans interrupted
its training session in northern Belgium.
One of the fans, a man who
appeared to be in his teens or early twenties, planted a kiss on Alessandro
Del Piero's cheek before police frogmarched all three offenders from the
field.
Around 300 supporters have
turned up to watch each of Italy's pratice sessions at Geel, east of Antwerp.
Dino Zoff's side is training in the modest stadium of the local second
division side.
Italy starts its Euro 2000
group B campaign against Turkey in Arnhem on Sunday.
