The Gazzetta dello Sport
headlines with Alessandro Del Piero in confident mood: "Italy looking good;
soon I'll have a greater say" as the Bianconeri's favourite son looks to
cement his starting place in Dino Zoff's 11. Juve's other striker Filippo
Inzaghi is not to be outdone either: "I'm in great shape, am happy with
the goal and am not worrying about the missed chances." The Milan football
pink closes with a positive note for Dino Zoff as Juve's Gianluca Pessotto
should be back in training as of today.
The Corriere dello Sport
also concentrates on the Azzurri, but a super-charged Belgium team are
wary of Del Piero's potential, cue their coach Robert Waseige: "He is a
superb player who can decide the outcome of a game on his own." Filippo
Inzaghi does not take the stick lying down: "Stop pestering me. It's the
penalty that counts."
Tuttosport allegedly reports
that Arsenal's Patrick Vieira has agreed to move to Juve, but that the
north London club has doubled his wages. Real Madrid president Lorenzo
Sanz is prepared to let Nicolas Anelka go but things must be settled in
the next week. Darko Kovacevic has extended his contract till 2006, and
finally on a sadder note the Heysel stadium will haunt the Italians - and
in particular the city of Turin - come Wednesday night against host nation
Belgium with Antonio Conte stating that he will "pray for those who died".
