Juventus feature prominently
in today's papers following their friendly defeat to Bologna in Cesena
on Saturday.
Filippo Inzaghi talks about
David Trezeguet in Tuttosport. "David and I have a similar character but
we've managed not to step on each other's toes and have played reasonably
well together. At Cesena I played in a role I'm not used to but which I
had played in in the past. I need to move around a bit more but Trezeguet
and I can play in the same team and therefore give Ancelotti an extra option."
"Ancelotti in experimental
mode" is the headline in the Gazzetta dello Sport which runs an interview
with Bianconero coach Carlo Ancelotti: "Even though everything didn't work
out perfectly at Cesena I am convinced that we can play this type of defensive
formation. It enables us to play with four forward players who can all
score instead of two fixed target men. The advantage is that out attacks
won't be as predictable."
Ancelotti then concentrates
on his young stars: "Enzo Maresca and Matteo Brighi are benefiting from
the hard work they have put in. Maresca is a great footballer. When he
has the ball he is a better player and he has great vision. Brighi is a
quicker, more dynamic player. At this moment in time they want to show
they are Juve players and this desire sometimes is to the detriment of
the team's play. They are both midfielders but not attacking midfielders
and have the talent to take a starting place away from say ...Tacchinardi
for instance (let's hope that this time Alessio understands my joke)."
The Corriere dello Sport
writes, "Alessandro Del Piero is on the right road." The Roman daily speaks
to Del Piero and says: "Just like all the others he'll be ready on 12 September
when the Champions League begins. He'll be in top form. There is no need
to worry." The paper also gives column inches to Ciro Ferrara who on 26
August is due to play for a Rest of the World team against France. There
is also good news regarding Antonio Conte and Darko Kovacevic. Both players
are recovering well from injury. Darko should be back for the friendly
against Spanish club Rayo Vallecano while Antonio should be fit by the
end of August.
